    Fender Rumble Club

(Reply modified from a previous post in this thread here: https://www.talkbass.com/threads/fender-rumble-club.1118826/page-3083 ) My amp for gigging is a Rumble 200. I usually play with my tone knobs all at noon (tweeter off), and almost always have the Vintage button pushed in. I also have a...

    Fender Mustang Club

Sorry, replied to my own post rather than this reply! I just looked again at my overlaid image, and it seems you've got it backwards! :wideyed: The leg cutaway of both basses DO line up with the pickups, but they line up with the OPPOSITE model's pickups! If you look at the cutaway of the blue...

I just looked again a my overlaid image, and it seems you've got it backwards! :wideyed: The leg cutaway of both basses DO line up with the pickups, but they line up with the OPPOSITE model's pickups! If you look at the cutaway of the blue Mustang body, it sits just in front of the P pickups...

    Fender Mustang Club

Sometime in the past I made an overlaid image of a P-Bass and a Mustang that clearly shows the relative positions of the pickups in relation to the scale. The images of the basses are superimposed, so that the nuts, frets and saddles are lined up. The image of the P-Bass is “shrunk”...

    Bassman 135

The Bassman 135 amps were manufactured with blackface panels (and blackface-correct grille cloth) the last few years they were produced (1981-1983?). The panel I found in the music store sales counter in 1988 (not 1986 as I said above...) was brand new, with the plastic covering on it.

    Bassman 135

That 135 was my amp! I sold it to Sweetwater in August of 2025. The amp was built in 1978. Here is a photo of the original filter caps (still going strong when sold!) under the "doghouse": The capacitors are all dated from 1977, except for the two on the right, from early 1978. I loved that...

    Cabinets for Fender Bassman 135

No need for a shorting plug with the Bassman 50 (or any other Bassman but the 135). The output jacks of the Bassman 50 are simply two identical jacks, wired in parallel to the single transformer winding. The speaker cab(s) can be connected to either jack, as long as the total load is not less...

    Cabinets for Fender Bassman 135

When using an 8 ohm cab with the Bassman 135 you can (should) plug it into the EXT SPKR jack. BUT, when doing this it is IMPORTANT to also inset a "shorting plug" (a 1/4" plug with the tip terminal soldered to the ring terminal) into the standard SPKR jack. See my post here for an...

    Fender Rumble Club

I own a R200 and a R100 (original version, no pre-post switch). I tried daisy-chaining the two, and was disappointed to find that the R100 contributed much less than I expected to the overall volume level. The level of the R100 is almost exactly 6dB less than the R200, no matter which amp is the...

Mataching a head with my converted Rumble 200 cab

The story I remember is that Fender developed the Eminence 15” driver for use in the Rumble 115 cabinet, and liked the sound & performance so much they decided to use it in the 200 combo, even though it was overkill for that application...

BTW, what look like splits up the sides of the canister are intentional cuts. In order to use the puller you place it over the knob with the crescent-shaped edges pressed in under the knob, and then squeeze the plastic sides until you're actually gripping the knob. The thin plastic "lips" of...

    Fender Rumble Club

I made a knob puller for my Rumbles using an old 35mm film canister. Five minutes with an Exacto knife, scissors and a file. Leave just enough of a "lip" on the bottom on each side to slip under the knob. Squeeze the sides together to grip the knob, and pull up.

The vintage effect is a LOW pass filter, not a HPF! -6dB at 400Hz plus some compression.

I’ve tried fabric and craft stores, both locally and online. They have lots of polyester “stuffing”, and various types of “batting” for quilting and padding, but it’s only up to 3/8” thick. Because the material I’m after seems so hard to find, I suspect it must be some kind of “specialty”...

    Fender Rumble Club

Posting this photo reminded me... I have been thinking about adding some damping material to the back side of my R100. I would like to use a sheet of the same type of material Fender uses to line the backs of the R200, R500, etc. Just a nice, thick sheet of polyester fiber lining, sturdy but...
