I agree - input on right, output on left. All SushiBoxes I've seen (and many, many other pedals) are set up for this right-to-left flow, exactly as readers of English would never, ever expect.

I'll break out a story I've told before (as someone with an HX Stomp and several Dingwalls). I spent time building my own preset... compression made it sound better, chorus made it sound better, overdrive made it sound better, etc. You give me eight slots, I layer on eight effects, why waste it...

I agree... keep the synth you like and a compressor you can easily tweak. IMHO the Stomp is also fine for dirt, but I don't use much of it. Chorus, octavers, delay - all that stuff is great on the Stomp. I like having a brightly-lit tuner on all the time (Sonic Research LED ring tuner rules)...

Maybe I missed it, but can you share what they are and where you found them? I recently had to run a semi-hollowbody regular guitar through the Stomp and the IRs I found turned it from "meh" to "magical" but I've never tried any for bass...

I have not found having more Dingwalls solves all problems, so obviously it means I just haven't gotten enough of them yet.

Question: A couple years back I got Upright Fever(™️) and acquired both an SLB 200 and an old Kay upright (i.e. medium-quality cheap-ish double bass). I got the exact same strings for both, just to make the learning and switching easier (Thomastik Spirocore Light/Weich). Same scale length...
