    EMG guru help needed... please

Isn't the tone knob, even an active tone knob, redundant with the treble side of the BQC preamp, especially considering you can switch the affected frequencies on the BQC board? My understanding is that a tone knob is just a boost/cut (or only cut) knob for treble frequencies.

    Problem with Universal Bass Case

My current main bass is under threat from a poor fit with the universal case I bought it with; bass secondhand, case new, both from small local guitar shop. More precisely, the foam mold that the neck is supposed to rest in has deformed so that my bass slides to the side when I carry it, see...

Tips for Being Organized and Prepared for Gigs

I have a tub full of all my music stuff: cables, extra cables, adaptors, pedals, mic, sharpies, tape, dry erase markers, picks, screwdriver, wrench, extra strings, music binder, etc. It always lives in the tub, no need to check where things are, or if I have everything. It's as simple as...

    Octave up pedal

I've looked up videos for all the suggestions, and I'm not quite sold on anything. Most reviews go heavier into the octave down side of things, and the octave up is usually showcased alongside the octave down or on the higher notes of a standard-tuned bass. I've finally decided my primary...

    Octave up pedal

That's what I get for trying to multitask. :rollno:Thanks for the suggestion.

    Octave up pedal

That makes sense. I didn't catch that you meant the LPF would be a good tool to counteract the chirpiness. Good idea. One pedal leads to another... Dang I need more money lol

    Octave up pedal

I thought a HPF would be more important than a LPF that way I don't waste any power producing sounds people can't hear? I've thought of getting a HPF and setting the cutoff for the low A fundamental: 27.5 Hz

    Octave up pedal

The link says the effect is more pronounced when playing above the 12th fret and with the neck pickup. Intuition tells me this means the effect is less effective (pun intended) with lower notes, which is what I want it for. Can anyone with experience verify that intuition right or wrong...

    Octave up pedal

Any suggestions for pedals that do octaves and/or harmonizing notes (3rds, 5ths, etc)? Special Consideration: this would be used with a bass down-tuned to ADGC (WIP). Imo this would sound better than tuning up to ADGC and using octave down pedals. The low low notes bordering the range of human...

    Steel Pickguard on a P-Bass?

I am finishing up some extensive modding to my Squier Precision bass. Partway through I had an idea to make a pickguard out of a sheet of steel I had taking up space in my apartment. I already cut out the rough shape using tinsnips: I still have to drill/cut out the holes for screws, knobs...

What the heck is this mod?

I'm currently modding my own Squier, and I just found me a new item on the to-do list.

Double Bass "Tone adjusted, graduated tops"

Thanks for the replies. Just for the record: My hopes were to get a student-variety, laminated top bass for less than $1500. I have seen some decent ones listed online for a couple hundred dollars under that price. All I wanted from a luthier is an inspection and proper setup, nothing major. I...

Double Bass "Tone adjusted, graduated tops"

Yeah, I thought all tops are graduated which is why my initial reaction was that it was just marketing language. That makes sense though, thank you.

Double Bass "Tone adjusted, graduated tops"

Longtime lurker, first time poster... My situation: I have been digging around this site and others and have already found a lot of good info on shopping around for my first double bass. I am still saving up, so even though I'm kinda still in research-only mode, I have emailed a couple local...
