    Interesting that the melody, both verse and chorus, resolves to a C note. I'm not sure about the use of the word resolve in this context, however.

    Index and middle fingers give me the sound and, more importantly to me, the feel I like when playing bass. As a guitar player I'm no stranger to pick playing.     A friend once took me to his neighbor's apartment to look at a Bandmaster for sale. I picked up the head to turn it around, heard a clunk, and asked the owner if he had a pedal in there. Nope, not a pedal. Want to guess where he stashed his handgun?

    workbench padding, instrument cradling and protection for delicate work

    I use a yoga mat on the bench and a piece of a large pool noodle for a neck rest. Works great for my occasional needs.

    Intonation Issue

    Is the nut slot cut for the string gauge you are using? Make sure the E is not pinched in the slot. Any binding at the nut will make setting the intonation difficult.

    'Inside the Music' by Dave Stewart was intentionally written in a light, narrative style. If you're looking for an introduction to intervals, scales, modes and chords, this could work well for those off times at work. There are a few dozen pages available for viewing on Amazon.
