Which of your basses gets the gig and why?

A couple of years ago my main rehearsal and gigging bass was a Ibby Soundgear. Loved both the sound, the feel and the playability of the thing. It was like operating a precision laser weapon. I still have it and play it from time to time. Atm my two main rehearsal basses are these two, a HW1...

How many basses do you ACTUALLY use?

Atm I tend to choose between a P-bass and a Ibanez Black Eagle for my primary basses. The Black Eagle is really light and sounds amazing (coming from a P-bass guy) but the P is so damned comfy to play. About a year ago I almost exclusively played a Ibby SR that nowadays almost always sits in...

Best body fit - Precision or Jazz?

I generally prefers P-basses, but it's a close call. My plucking hand and wrist like the P better, for some reason.

Why do Mexican Fenders get all the cool colors?

Well, the new American Performer series got both the satin surf green, satin lpb and the penny colors. I think both are quite left field compared to the regular sunburst. Black isn't even available as an option. With that said, I would also like some more color options. Whatever happened to...

Your favorite bass purchase of 2018

I know, this one is so light it almost causes neck dive.

Your favorite bass purchase of 2018

I'd say this Ibanez Black Eagle reissue. It's a great instrument in its own right, but it's also the bass that made me realize that other basses than Fender P's can sound and play great. (I also love the looks of it, the main reason I bought it in the first place)

Pickup swap that made the biggest difference in your tone?

Swapped the stock pickups in a Squier VM Jazz for Dimarzio Ultra Jazz pickups. It was like night and day to my ears.

    Fender Performer series

I really like the Penny color, would love to put my hands on a penny J-bass with a maple board to compliment my two Highway One P-basses. Contrary to the HW1:s I don't see a graphite reinforced neck or a nitro finish. The nitro finish I could probably do without, but the graphite? To my...

Best bang for buck stoner rehearsal amp?

This. Oh btw, I got my Mk III BH400 ca 1979 for the equivalent of $20.

    Ok Ibanez Players Decisions decisions

The big Nordstrands seem to be a bit of a love/hate thing. Other than that, there are some good advice in this thread. If the specs (and price) are similar, go with the one you think is prettiest.

could you make a band with people born on your birthday

Myself on bass. Joe Porcaro on drums. Willie Nelson on vocals and perhaps some guitar. Otis Rush on guitar. Duke Ellington on piano. Toots Thielemans on harmonica. Seems like a great band to me. And oh, Bill Drummond will be the manager and record producer.

Help me choose a color for my new jazz

Buttercream. You see so many black and sunburst basses. Boring to me. Buttercream is a little bit different, therefore I'd go with that.

    Frustrated/Had Enough of My Stingray

Well, if you have tried everything and still aren't satisfied with your live sound maybe a Stingray isn't the right bass sound for your band. I tend to have the same issue with J-basses. I love the sound of them when I play at home, but they don't work for me in a band setting. The opposite is...
