Need help on cabs for metal

The ampeg 610 and 810 are pretty much the same price, I never understood that... anyways Neo speakers are great, but I don't know the durability on them. I can tell you that most metal players I know that use picks prefer the ampeg cabs, but most metal players I know that use their fingers...

    Avatar Neo price increase!

Either way, the avatar neo cabs are still cheaper than the GK neo cabs which haven't raised in price though.

what's with the 2x10 craze on TB?

I think 212's are awesome, they aren't as small as a 210, but they pack more of a punch and are extremely light. I have a neo 212 and it's only like 30-35 pounds. And it dishes out the same as a 410 which can weight up to twice that.

    Cab vibrations & movement...

Are you playing mostly on a wood floor? I know when I play on anything that isn't wood, my bass cab doesn't vibrate much, but once I go on wood floor, like certain stages, it'll vibrate, I usually just put down a dry wash cloth on top, it'll suck up the vibrations. As for the movement, idk what...

Top 3 players whose TONE you admire most...

I'm sure someone mentioned this... I admire Troy Sanders, though he uses a variety of tones, mostly distortion, but he is able to blend so perfectly with the guitars and make everything sound so smooth and creamy.

Famous bassists who use BOTH fingers and a pick.

Troy Sanders - Mastodon... Most known to be a finger picker but most recently started using a pick for some of their material. Cliff Burton occasionally used a pick. Not well known fact: Tom Araya from Slayer was originally finger player but started using a pick around 1987, but he still...

    Distortion - yes or no???

Should be a middle answer, like a slight distortion/fuzz... I personally like a really slight distortion that makes it sound a bit more darker and dirty for metal.

    Combining effects on bass?

Thats actually a bad of paper plates :P I'm really not big on having a bunch of effects on at once, I know it usually isn't really logical for music other than messing around when you're bored, but I really thought it was unique to get sounds you'd hear in a movie on a bass lol. Sorry...

    Combining effects on bass?

So I was messing around with a delay pedal and a chorus pedal and got this really intense sound. Like when I hit my low E (tuned to C) it sounds like something for a horror/suspense movie and/or game. Maybe this is in the wrong place, but I'd like to see what others have stumbled upon from...

Too nice to quit a band

Its not about the band, its about feeling guilty... I don't want to be the guy to say "hey you know the hundreds of dollars you spend on the band and you actually starved a couple days for the band, yeah that was for nothing" But I think the setting of a date would be best for me... They're...

Too nice to quit a band

Yes it is confusing, they think they are serious, but they aren't. They aren't musically serious, they don't practice enough or work with each other enough. But they promote the hell out of the band, they pass flyers around to shows, they buy merch, they do everything a very serious band would...

Too nice to quit a band

Well I am in another band that I enjoy much better, but I have posted ads with links to songs, and hundreds have people looked at them and passed it up. I had a drummer say he liked it, but then he kind of stopped talking to me. They aren't my friends, though they try to suck me in and make me...

Too nice to quit a band

Okay so I know this is a Bass forum, but I'm a drummer in this band, I used to play guitar in the band as a favor to a friend who was the drummer. He wasn't that good, and he had an ego, so they kicked him out, and I said I would play drums until we find a replacement. Well that never happened...

What bands really make on tour.

Touring definatally takes dedication. But for national acts, thats where they make money. Since music is downloaded illegally, bands don't make as much money from CD sales as they used to, its all about the shows. A good venue where I live is about 1000 to rent, if you get rent the sound guy...

I have never understood the big deal about a "tuner out"

Tuner-out option is kind of useless if you have a tuner pedal, but I don't see why you don't understand it... Its awesome if you only have a hand tuner, you don't have to unplug your bass to tune during a show lol.
