    Fender fans who turned G&L

I bought a made in America G&L L-2000 about 23 years ago on the advice of a friend. I went through several amps, cabs, string types, and pedals, but I just kept playing my L-2000. It doesn't seem heavy to me. It never failed me and the finish still looks good although the truss rod nut is now...

How often have you had to replace tuners?

I've played by G&L L-2000 for over 20 years and the tuners are working great and the bass stays in tune very well. In my mind, the tuners should not need to be changed on a quality bass.

Better Guitarist: Jimi Hendrix or Stevie Ray Vaughn?

I think both Stevie and Hendrix were amazing guitarists. I actually think Stevie was slightly more technically capable on guitar but I think Jimi was more creative and innovative while still being technically capable. Jimi was pushing the boundaries of music for his time while Stevie was...

    Dressing for the stage

I would love to dress like that but I get hot so easily. I need to wear something very light and I'll still sweat through it most likely.

    Dressing for the stage

Thanks. This is really helpful. I'm 50 and in a band that covers rock songs, pop, grunge, 80s, but mostly with punkish distorted edge. We have a female guitarist with long bright blond hair and a female singer that dresses up a lot. I feel that wearing dark or plain clothes standing on stage...

    Dressing for the stage

I'd like to up my game with my stage look. How do you guys dress for the stage? Any pictures? Where do you shop? Obviously it will be very different for different types of bands. Pictures would be great.

    Why play a four string?

Interestingly, I was playing in my jazzy group last night and found that I was rarely using the lower register of my E string on by 4 string bass. It sounded too thunderous for the music were were playing. I think I will rarely play below low A. In my rock band, I hammer that low E a lot and...

What's your one true "Forever Bass"?

My primary bass is also play a G&L 2000 jazz bass that I've played for 20 years. I love it. Yours is really beautiful with that inlay work. Did it come like that from G&L? I haven't seen that style. Is that a pickguard or more inlay below the strings. Also, what is that red thing next to...

Hello, Talk Bass is great! I just discovered it about a week ago and lost sleep pouring over all the great information here :) I'm planning to get a new amp and cabinet and looking for some advice. Some background... I have a Mesa Walkabout Scout combo amp which is 300W, tube pre-amp, and a...
