    Mysterious Farting

THis thread is awesome! Y'all are cracking me up! Full disclosure: I've cleared a room myself from time to time:woot::woot: I have a few updates. I had already tested the battery and it checked out so that wasn't it. THen I moved my setup outside because I wanted to rule out any strange...

    Mysterious Farting

I haven’t tried any other amp/cab combos. My other cab is at my friend’s house where we rehearse and I only have the one amp. It’s 8 ohm if I remember right. I’ll correct that tomorrow if it’s different. no roommates but my wife made some delicious pea soup two days ago

    Mysterious Farting

I noticed that as I hit lower notes, my cab sounds like it's farting out. Honestly I don't know for certain if I'm using the proper language here so I'd be happy to hear some clarification... It seems like the sound is distorting. And as the note fades the distortion seems to lower, but it's...

    Sm 58 shock troubleshoot

Thor, I agree. I always felt that talkBass was, among other things, a place to seek advice from more knowledgeable and experienced musicians. Silas Stingy, that was a great video. I helped to organize some of the differnt things that I've heard about electricity an grounding. Thank you. Still...

    Sm 58 shock troubleshoot

As far as the information on this thread goes, here's how it looks: 1. Bad wiring in equipment is bad and is potentially life-threatening. I agree. 2. Get rid of your microphone. It seems to be the problem. I agree? 3. Don't get rid of your microphone. Something else is the problem...

    Sm 58 shock troubleshoot

Friends.... I appreciate your concern. I'm pretty sure that touching pieces of my equipment with a multimeter will not harm me, at least if it's unplugged. So can some one teach me how to "tune my bass"?

    Sm 58 shock troubleshoot

No offense taken. But I still need tk know a bit more about it. For knowledge's sake, but also just to know what parts to bring in. There are 3 amps and a mixer, plus 2 guitars and 4 pedals involved in some way or another. Can you tell me how to do this, and what it will tell me?

    Sm 58 shock troubleshoot

I appreciate all the suggestions. I have tested the two different power strips, and they both came back normal with the outlet tester. However, do you need to plug directly into the outlet to get an accurate result? My amp and all the drummer's electronics (electric kit) are plugged into one...

    Sm 58 shock troubleshoot

Ah, so OL means open loop. Good to know... Is that good or bad? I really don't know much about wiring. I have tried our other mic and there are no problems with it. It's a Beta 58A. I literally swap out only the mics, and the 58 bites me no matter which line it's on, and the Beta doesn't. And...

    Sm 58 shock troubleshoot

I am attempting to learn to sing and play at the same time, and the dang mic shocked my face! What is going on? I've seen several posts and web pages about it, and it seems to have something to do with bad ground. Funny thing is, it only happens with the sm 58. Doesn't matter what mixer...

    major chord vs. maj7

I think my take-away at this point is that the "theory" is useful to know and can help you make predictions about where a song is going, or what should be added in creating a song, but ultimately the "rules" are broken a lot if it sounds right. So I need to listen.

    major chord vs. maj7

That reminds me of a video I watched with Victor Wooten talking about the "wrong note." He was sting something and then added a note which clearly sounded out of place. But then he kept coming back to that note every bar or something, and the "wrong note" was magically transformed into an...

    major chord vs. maj7

A few questions: Do you mean that the melody would contain chord tones of the triad, excluding the maj7? And thus the maj7 chord (played as an arpeggio for instance) would sound dissonant? And when you say if the melody is the major 7, do you mean a melody with tones that include the major 7...
