I haven't been around these parts much lately, but I still lurk from time to time. Over the last 6 months or so, I've put most of my free time into an EP that I just released this past week. I got surprisingly positive feedback on my last album, and thought you all might be interested to hear...

Yeah, there are tons of people out there, willing to do it for relatively cheap. Other than looking through the past works of potential engineers, maybe try to find out who engineered other bands that you like the sound of - or reach out to local bands to see who they work with.

If price is a serious concern, look into a cheap Behringer interface - should do the trick. Beyond that, a DAW (I'd recommend Reaper for function and price). Find yourself some free VSTs, and you've got a completely serviceable setup for recording.

Shoot, I named one of my songs Snooze. Now that I co-habitate, I try to keep it to a minimum, but it usually takes me 2/3 alarms to feel confident that I won't oversleep. I'll set 3-4 alarms if I'm travelling and absolutely need to be out of bed.

I use the Waves L2 and L3 limiters. I would definitely recommend them, but only if you can wait until they are on sale (fairly regularly) - I got them for under 30 each. There are plenty of free ones that I'm sure would suit your needs, but I don't know the names of any off the top of my head.

I just upgraded from the Samsung Note 5 to the Galaxy S9 a couple days ago. The note still worked fine (and I'll keep as a backup), but the battery turned to garbage. I wish they still had replaceable batteries :/ Oh well, got like 2 and a half years out of the thing. I only have like 2 days...

Agreed. You can definitely find something under a couple hundred bucks that will give you great sound quality.

Agreed - I wouldn't mind the newer (default) theme if it was a bit wider.
