Can an instrument cable be safely used as a speaker cable at 35 watts?

like having an elderly woman in your life...depends. i've built most of my patch cables from saxton or belden RG-58 comm cable , with a stranded 18gauge center conductor . maybe a bit noisy for some hifi apps, but 18 ga is plenty stout for speakers under 100w . a POS R et ar d Center guitar...

***? nobody stocks short scale strings?

sure, G.C. sells mustangs and ibanez and gretsch short scale bass guitars . never...EVER seen one carry a set on the pegboard with the long scale stuff . "we're ordering them" ********. there's never a vacant spot for these "mysterious' strings. i've checked at 4 stores and always the same...

    Squier Bronco Bass fretless conversion

duncan hotrails ! the $30 (used price ) tele neck pickup version i put in mine sounds huge , esp. compared to the stock, thin-sounding 6-pole guitar pickup . why they sell this bass with a nasty 6-string guitar pickup , and not a 4 pole bass pickup is beyond belief . it really is a cool...

    Band Saw Recommendations?

i have a 1947 DoAll with a 2 speed gearbox .a really solid saw- and doall still carries parts . it can take up to a 1" band , but i typically run 3/4" -10 , for gp sawing , 3/4"-6 for thick wood, and 1/4"- 10 for contour cuts . for my purposes, bi-metal bands are a waste of money -...

    crack repair question

ok , it's not a bass (1930's Martin -A flatback mandolin) , but it has a 3" hairline crack in the lower -mid left of the rosewood back . i don't want it to spread and become a split . it is a roundhole instrument , so i could possibly glue in a patch from the rear if i had to access it...

Strap locks for a '92 Warwick.

i like the schaller straplocks best . very positive design , won't release accidentally , no ball bearings and tiny parts to crap out and jam up . you can use a conventional strap on the buttons too . you'll have to fill the holes , but imho that's much better than dropping your bass , or...

    Fretless bass options

used german warwick corvette fls can be had for $500-700 . the thumb fl is availabe used for $800-$1200. mm stingray fls are great, i wish they had an ebony board , at least i've never seen one .

    Bose headphones from Costco

i never liked bose stuff . i consider them more a marketing strategy over anything else . their infomercials and high profile ad campaigns don't make for good sound or quality . the old joke among hi-fi enthusiasts was - "no highs, no lows.....must be bose" in response to the gimmicky...

    Modding a Warwick. Need help!

why not reconnect the wire leading from the battery compartment to the pre-amp ? ***? that's likely a good bass . a decent instrument in its own right . any competent guitar shop could fix it in five minutes for the cost of a six-pack .

i couldn't sift thru every post , but do you remember Stanley in the 70's/198S with his Bose-lookin' 30 or so 4" speakers -dome thingy he played that awesome piccolo. school days live shows . i think it may have had an cerwin-vega/gauss or acoustic folded 18 horn too, but i remember the...

Need help finding a Pot for my head.

have you removed it from the circuit yet ? you won't get a good reading unless you at least remove the outer connections , then measure resistance of the outer two contacts - that should give the value of the pot. it won't tell you if it's a linear taper or an audio(logarithmic) taper...
