Bose headphones from Costco

Never tried them however I am of the opinion that Bose products are good but overpriced. They are basically selling you the name. You can get something similar if not better for less. Check out the Sony MDR line, Beyerdynamic, Grado, Sennheiser, Audio Technica etc, you may find something there that strikes your interest. I myself use a pair of Beyerdynamic DT770's and they are excellent.

Some headphones like Bose, Dr Dre, are weighted to sound good without EQ
May be good if you listen to some music.
This is bad thing if you want to do recording. Good recording headphones are best, and not that much more money. Check out the recording gear sites.

Although, you could have a pair of Bose to compare your mixes with. Bose sells a lot of headphones and your listeners of your recordings may be listening in with them.

Definitely +1

Never any problem returning an item to Costco. If they have them in a warehouse store, take your ipod in and give them a try. I'll be looking for these to show up in our local warehouse.

Headphones are pretty personal items, you'll spend a lot of time with the things on your head. Light weight is really important. Fit is key. I wear glasses, so on ears that grab and pinch don't' work.

I've been using some Sony UR-40's for practice for years: $50. I've tried "better" more expensive, and better reviewed headphones, only to keep the Sony's and return the new ones. That's where the easy return policy comes in.

i never liked bose stuff . i consider them more a marketing strategy over anything else . their infomercials and high profile
ad campaigns don't make for good sound or quality .
the old joke among hi-fi enthusiasts was -
"no highs, no lows.....must be bose" in response to the
gimmicky and poorly constructed, but very expensive
speakers they marketed (a $700/pair of speakers with $2/pr
cone tweeters !)

anyway, their current line of phones seem more targeted to
RAP enthusiasts and teenagers than the pro-audio or audiophile
buyer. you'll likely find exaggerated bass equals a poor recording and mixing platform .

i currently use Sony MDR-7509HD ($110 ) and am very happy.

but, use your own ears- you may just like the bose .

Here's the link, don't know the model number sorry. Link RemovedWas wondering if these would be any good for practice. I know Bose makes excellent stuff, but I was wondering if these would hold up to a bass. HAs anyone tried them?

I actually have a set. I like them with my ipod but if you are doing studio work they are slightly colored. However I have used them with a pandora for practice and also enjoyed using them with an 8 track. They handled my bass well and I use active Warwicks and Spectors with hot preamps. Hope this helps
