Thanks for your reply. I have just ordered one to try, should be here tomorrow. One thing I have heard is that the impedance is quite low and you have to turn up your amp quite a lot. Have you found this? I have read that you can just tune it as you would any other bass if you aren't toooooo...

No. I was looking for a preamp DI to use straight to our mixing desk. The Magellan preamp sounded exactly like the 800. I was just using the 800 to play all the preamps through to my cab on a clean basis to hear the difference in sounds.
