Sounds just like the 800 and I now have the overdrive as well. Job done. Jeff & Co. absolutely know their stuff!

So you are saying adding the magellan DI/pre pedal added alot of tone even with you having the Magellan 800 head? I think ideally I’d like this pedal an the the sushi UA to try.I bet I’d bet set with how the
Genzler Di pedal eqn options. I love the/req too but the extra contour a mid knobs on DI pedal added with the head has to be great!

I spent some time going through lots of DI searching as well. I used a REDDI foe a while and it was REALLY nice. I also used an Empress Comp and Para eq. Great analog/tube rig. I was looking for a more "all-in-one" rig (I'm always DI/IEM) and was debating the Berg SP but it didn't come out in time. I use a Genzler MG350 so if the Genzler pre/DI was out I would have considered that. I have used Genz Benz and Genzler for a LONG time. I ended up going woith an HX Stomp for a number of reasons. Mostly convenience as it us my DI and my synth. The presets that let me go between a few different tones for my cover band work has made it pretty useful.

If I ever went back to using a "real synth" again, I would more than likely use one or two Genzler pedals as my DI. I'd need a compressor of some kind as well.

In the business world, we categorize what you're dealing with right now as "analysis paralysis." It's a belief that just one more piece of information, experience, or recommendation will be exactly what we need to make the decision...yet that piece of info simply yields a need to get some more information to corraborate it. And the process goes on ad finitum.

The fastest way forward for you is to get what you think might work based on the information you have right now and try it out. Then zero in on what works/doesn't work for your particular situation and adapt and adjust with alternate gear based on a better understanding of what worked or didn't.

Oh, and ENJOY the hunt. That's oftentimes the best part!

Oh def I agree but the issue is I’m in the sticks of Illinois an I think I’d have to drive maybe to Chicago to find a shop with all the stuff. Trust I wish I could just be a shop away from it I can’t complain the shop in my town does An amazing job at keeping a lot of pro gear but he obvi can’t have it all. But I also agree between my love of just knowing more a more a then ADD/ OCD for this knowledge I guess, you’re right haha . Tbh I just really have always since day one hearing live music been a tone snob gear head. But as age does with most I’ve learned less is mroe. But somethings are worth the extra money. But I just also wish my bank account was more capable of messing with this stuff an then selling it if it doesn’t work out. Or something. Tbh my band is doing great sn we’ve been playing bigger houses but between my amp an bass I went hard on my rig im sure alot of you did a lot more with less. I just idk love getting the tones I’m after. And or hear. An I use to master whag I went for on guitar tone. With DI an tryin to get “your tone” to crowd on bass I didn’t expect the gear an tone effort to be so vastly diff but then again… duh… Lmfao. If it wasn’t for the obscene deal earlier I wouldn’t of posted about it.


To that note inknow I’m going to try the sushi UA, for sure. I just don’t know what back up DI/eq I’ll use or if I’ll even need one.

My Genzler rig was perched and ready for rehearsal! :thumbsup: It hasn’t been out in such a long long time, but was on point and up to the task last night. :)

Jeff, I haven't seen any series 2 12" cabs advertised as available anywhere yet, are they still in the works and how will they be priced? Also can you run a MG800 head through a pair of series 2 10" cabs safely and would there be much advantage over the MG350 here. Eventually I would like to add either a third series 2 10" cab or a series 2 12" cab to my present two 10" cabs, either would be fantastic I'm sure but can you steer me in one direction or the other. Thanks

@Moonskunk, Sorry I'm out on vacation with little internet access. Yes all series 2 cabs are available and in stock on oir website and those of some dealers. Pricing is on our site. After talking to many players I would add the BA2-112-3 cab to your small BA10 cabs. And yes if careful you can use an MG800 with the top BA10-2 cabs. I'll be back in a few days and provide much more information.

Three vendors on Reverb have new 12” Series 2 in stock. I’m watching all of them. :)

No. I was looking for a preamp DI to use straight to our mixing desk. The Magellan preamp sounded exactly like the 800. I was just using the 800 to play all the preamps through to my cab on a clean basis to hear the difference in sounds.
