could you put that under a BA-10-2 as an extension cab? Or is it best to not mix and match these cabs?

I've had no problem with mix and match. Get plenty of compliments on the sound. Genzler BA 12-3 (S1) on top of a Genz Benz NeoX 212T loaded w/NX2 Faital's. Been running this set up for a couple of years now.

I turn the horn OFF on the 212 and let the BA work its magic on the top end.

I guess you are referring to the shadowy ghost figures on the wall? There must be something haunting going on in that room.

Actually, the spot we are rehearsing in is a lounge/bar with lots of ambiance lighting from the multiple rail systems pointing toward that area where performers normally setup.

I have been messing around with my old Darkglass pedal and the Magellan 800 and I made a discovery, my optimal B3K setting is attainable on the drive channel of the Magellan 800. Engage the drive and set the gain at 3 o’clock, engage the blue contour also at 3 o’clock. There it is, maybe even better. Give it a whirl and verify that it isn’t just my imagination. Such a great amp!

Hey guys.. wanted to get your take. Just got a nu classic 212t to try and reduce weight and size of rig (4x10 ashdown). Running the cab through a svt 3 pro. Don't know if it's me, the amp, required break in of speakers, or just limitation with 212s, but there's a tinny twang on open E that just sounds bad. Bumping up the bass on the amp clears the tininess, but then you get muddiness galore. Tweeter is turned off. Thinking of sending this back. Anyone have similar setup and/or share settings or tips? Play a fender j bass.

How new are the strings on your bass? Just wondering, they could be the culprit.

Try engaging the tweeter slightly and cutting the treble on the amp to compensate. Also try cutting your 150hz slider and boosting your bass slightly. These may not work but it is where I would start. Your amp has a pretty extensive eq section, you should be able to dial in any sound you would like. With the drastic difference in cabs perhaps a whole new approach to your amp is necessary? Experiment with the different mid voicing settings and your ultra low/high switches, really give the knobs a tweak.

After all that if you can’t find a sound you love perhaps there is a better option out there for you. I returned a BA410-3 to buy a BA15-3 and it is a far better tone for me. You might be just accustomed to the sonic traits of a 4x10, which isn’t a bad thing. Give it a little time before you write it off. Since you already have the cab exhaust your options so you won’t have regret later if you prematurely return it.

How close are you standing to the cabinet? Bass sound waves take a bit of distance to develop, try standing back a ways as far as your guitar cable stretches. I've had several great bass cabs I nearly wrote off because the lower register sounded really thin to me including a Mesa Subway 115 when I was directly in front of the cabinet fiddling with the amp settings. Just a thought that perhaps this may be what you are experiencing .

Appreciate the tips. Very well could be getting acclimated to a 2x12 setup. Not expecting the thumpiness of bigger cabs, but when the lows come out without the tinning, it is pretty smooth. As for distance from the amp, that could be it too.. lol. Was playing around the amp trying to dial it in.. definitely sounds better farther away. I'll keep playing around and see what comes. Would love to keep it.. just looking for my sound.

I know you've played the bass through 10s but could it be something with the E string that is giving you a tinny sound? It seems odd that the A string would sound full but not the E string.

Hearing it right at the beginning of the strum.. was weird. Switched to the 4x10 and no tinning.. went back to the 212 and it was very audible. I do have a new pack of nyxl. Will try that later on.

It was my amp!!! Adjusted the bias and the nu classic 212t sounds glorious! Thanks all.. realized no distortion or muddiness swapping amp. Popped open the svt, measured, and my bias was super low. Adjusted and now I'm happy. Sounds so good.

The higher fidelity was likely letting you hear it whereas the other speaker may have been masking it.

I played my second gig with my NC-212T last night. I’m driving it with a GB Streamliner 600. I had played it previously at an outdoor gig a couple of months ago and never did quite get it dialed in to my satisfaction. Last night, it took me about 2 minutes to dial it in during sound check, and my tone was right where I wanted it all night. I even got a compliment from the BL on how it sounded, and he never does that!
