NPD: Free The Tone PA-1QB Programmable EQ

Yes, it is still there and hasn’t really left my pedalboard (along with a FTT Bass Blaster). It is very transparent and effective. I also use an Origin Effects DCX in EQ mode - I think of the FTT as more surgical. I have the original Source toolbox EQ in a closet but haven’t felt the need to...

Earthquaker Blumes: Best Tube Screamer for Bass?

I voted No, though I do think the Blumes is a good pedal. My understanding is that the Free The Tone Bass Blaster is based upon a TS circuit and it is far and away the best bass overdrive pedal I’ve used (and yes, I have purchased a Blumes among many other options). I realize not everyone...

Testing Compressors: Cali, Smoothie, Empress, Diamond, Keeley, FEA, Darkglass, Doc Lloyd, Lusithand & more

Quick question for the other compressor junkies on here... I have a PDR Vactrol that I bought in the classifieds several years ago. The only way I can tell that it is a Vactrol is from a red sticker with "SE" that was attached to the box. Are there any other ways to visually confirm?

    Fender Custom Shop Club

Sorry, this is just wrong, or at least was when I toured the shop about a decade ago. Custom Shop gets the best blanks for bodies and necks, but if it is a standard Fender shape (non-crazy, 1 off masterbuilt) they all go to CNC before being hand sanded.

    Strymon Bass Club

Not to be "that guy", but have you contacted Strymon directly? My past experience with their customer service is excellent and I can't imagine they would not get back to you quickly. (Also, I don't recall seeing anything about this issue, or really any issues, with the Zumas in this thread...

Yes, it works and sounds good; though as you’ve figured out the need for TRS conversion means one more cable in the gig bag. I prefer the LA-1A with a Radial JDI after it for DI. Fantastic combination.

    Free The Tone Black Vehicle

The Bass Blaster is my reigning OD champ for several years now. I’ve tried several different things but nothing has been able to knock it off its throne. Pricey, but definitely worth it…

    Free The Tone Black Vehicle

I was hoping it was “the same with more” but I keep returning to my BB. I won’t get rid of the BV and I do think the tonal possibilities are greater with the BV, but in a live context the BB is just perfect for me.
