As you've alluded to, I think one of the fun things with playing modern pop music is trying to get those synth sounds out of bass.

"Attention" is actually the song that made me wonder about having the "right" gear. My sole bass is a passive jazz and it sounds "thin" when I play it with the band, although I don't know that it'd be better with a Precision or a Stingray. It's an octave pedal I should look into, maybe?

Why active?

I know, I know. There is no best. But if you were to join a band that covers modern pop music (Dua Lippa, Lizzo, Harry Styles, Ed Sheeran, etc.) what bass would you bring? Why?
