Craigslist ... the stupid never ends.

The CL poster wasn't asking for money. But somebody interested in learning an instrument and not willing or able to fund the interest... that's cool. Who knows, that beater bass you pass along might turn on a kid to music and save them from who-knows-what kind of trouble. Ask them to pass it...

    EBS power supply problem

The US distributor helped me with another problem a while back. They are extremely responsive and do what it takes to make things right. You do need to be patient when expecting a response but EBS customer service is A+.

I emailed, they sent me a new cable. Can't do any better than that. Buy EBS!

    EBS power supply problem

Hi all, I have an EBS AD-9 power supply that I like quite a bit. However it has developed a problem with the power cord. The cord connects to the transformer with a plug that looks like a home telephone plug. The jacket has pulled away from the plug so just a couple tiny wires are holding it...

Did You Regret Your First 5 String?

Yes, only for a while. I bought a Lakland 55-02 which was my first active bass. I didn't like it at first so it went in the closet and I impulsively bought a DJ5. After about a year I decided to sell the 55-02 but took it out to play it "just to be sure". At that point I figured it out and...

Question about 70s Jazz bass tone

Just a guess... with the lower tuning the amplitude of the string vibration is larger, so the string is getting too close to the pickups?? Maybe try lowering your pickups, count the number of turns on the screw so you can return it to normal if this doesn't fix the problem.

    Cheat Sheets on the gig

I've found if I don't make notes it forces me to memorize the song, haha! Seriously, for some ensambles I've memorized all of it, others I have a binder. My most frequent gig I get cues right in my ears from the band leader, which might be the worst kind of crutch.

Having to use the restroom onstage

A little alchohol really puts my blood pressure medication which is a diuretic into high gear. Many times I've had to duck out between songs. I just say, guys cover for me for a sec. Last show there was another guy headed to the bathroom, I told him, dude can you wait for about 10 sec. He...

    Playing along with Youtube tracks

No replies? How about one of those Behringer single mic preamp USB mixers? Its small, powered from USB, just plug the bass and headphones in. I suppose you'd want to use a DI box, since the input is not hi-z. Will this work?

    Church/Bar Band....Thoughts?

I'm blessed to play in a church where the congregation and staff are supportive of our music, both in church and outside of church. I've played many times with the church band in bars and other venues, playing the very same songs. One particularly memorable occasion was when we were playing an...

How do we get to the gig economically?

Not trying to sound like a jerk, but the cheapest vehicle is almost always the one you already have. Good luck!

    Playing along with Youtube tracks

Hi, I am looking for some advice. I frequently need to rehearse by playing along with tracks posted on Youtube. What I have been doing is running the recorded track out of the headphone jack on the computer into the tape-in on a small Mackie mixer. Then I run my bass into a channel on the...
