Thoughts on a sedan that can hold a 212 cab

I can fit my Berg 212 in the trunk of my 2014 Civic with enough room left over for my bass, amp, and pedalboard. Genuinely perplexed to see this many folks saying “won’t fit, use the backseat.” I could (and did) fit an Aguilar 810 in the backseat of my older Civic for f*** sake 😂

I asked AI to design a bass cab

This. LLM’s are prediction models coded to be inherently agreeable to the user: as a result, they routinely fail at even rudimentary problem solving tasks. There’s a video currently going around of a guy asking ChatGPT how to use a water glass that’s upside down…and ChatGPT telling him...

    oversize baggage fee

Yep. The only time in the last 18 years I haven’t been able to put a bass in an overhead if I wanted to, on any airline, was due to either international travel restrictions or a smaller commuter plane. Southwest aircraft never have the cost closet option, but the other carriers generally do.

    oversize baggage fee

Yep. Hard cases fit in the overheads just fine, flight crews will generally put them in their coat closet as well if you smile and ask politely, and absolute worst case scenario you can gate check for free.

    oversize baggage fee

That must be a brand new policy. Just put it in the overhead bin.

    oversize baggage fee

This is just good all around life advice. Being kind costs us nothing and can dramatically change the outcome of so many situations for the better.

    oversize baggage fee

The person you spoke to at Southwest was wrong. Just flew LAX to Dallas via Southwest for some video shoots: bass went in the overhead bin both ways at no charge. I’ve flown with an instrument likely over 100 times in my career, and the only time I was ever charged an “oversized” fee I was...

What key would you say this song is?

    Exactly 😂

What key would you say this song is?

This thread reads like someone asked ChatGPT “write me the dumbest/most pointless TalkBass thread prompt of 2026”. 1. Why does anyone care this much about what key this particular song is in? It’s essentially a two chord song, even a rudimentarily skilled band can perform it correctly without...

I asked about integrating AI to my music making for fun, and... I got the Guillotine!

“AI is not so different than using samples: it just does all the work for you.” Aside from the fact that generative LLM’s like SUNO only exist due to trillions of dollars worth of IP theft, some of which Open AI is currently in active lawsuits for, that’s precisely why it’s different. Telling...

AVII Precision bass: action way too high

If it was at 2mm before, using the truss rod will get it there again.

    I Got Played

Generative “AI” is the world’s most sophisticated plagiarism machine. Nothing about it is “intelligent”: it simply the result of a quantitative computer program blending various elements from trillions of dollars worth of stolen IP. Sam Altman himself says the technology wouldn’t exist if the...

Sweetwater marketing now lying about YOUR interests - to YOU

How dramatic 😂 I’ve never even opened a marketing email from Sweetwater: why would I? I already know what I want to buy. This whole melodrama reminds me of the modern adage “this isn’t an airport: no need to announce your departure.”

    Headless Dingwall

Looks like the guy opened his account last month and is behaving like a classic troll. “Because it’s a public forum, and I’m allowed to be a needlessly negative and combative with strangers here” certainly isn’t the opinion of someone who deserves to be taken seriously.

    Headless Dingwall

Repeatedly denigrating the work of a bass builder under the guise of “it’s my opinion”, and starting petty arguments with strangers defending that opinion, isn’t how happy adults spend their time. Best of luck what whatever is actually bothering you that you’ve decided to project here.
