Got my bass back tonight. The shielding job has really reduced the buzz substantially.

When I initially received the bass the plastic tone knob was in 4 pieces. Could the pot or cap have been damaged by whatever blow caused the plastic knob to shatter?

I have a similar problem with a Lakland DJ4. I’ve tried to figure out how to eliminate it without success to this point. I am having it shielded by a local luthier and should have it back in a few days or so. I will report back if this solves the problem.
