I started on recorder at age 3, then went to piano and clarinet and in 6th grade decided I wanted to play oboe. In 7th grade, I started playing bass and eventually made my living with it for quite a few years. Oboe was too difficult to keep up with, but I did try to get back to it about 5 years. Nope. And making reeds is full time job.

I also play guitar to some extent, even did a couple of jazz gigs until my jamming partner moved away and life got busy. These days, I use guitar to play when I teach bass in order to have a chordal instrument. But bass is still where the income is.
