Bar chords are difficult now due to a trigger finger issue.

I have had trigger finger off and on in one finger or the other. when it happens I go to my ortho and he gives me a cortisone shot that usually clears it up in a week or 2.

I started on viola and later transitioned to upright.

I played upright and bass guitar professionally. When I started playing bass guitar, it seemed to share many attributes with upright. As I developed my technique for each become more specialized. I see them as totally different instruments now. I don't currently own and upright or electric upright; but I may change that.

I own a couple of guitars and used to enjoy laying down short loops and then soloing. Haven't really touched them much in a few years and don't claim to know how to play guitar. I have nice collection of guitar amps and a big pedal board as well.

Lot's of PA gear. I was a pro audio tech.

I also used to play piano at a similar level to guitar (in other words not very good). I majored in music but did not complete an associates in residence. Class piano was a required class, but unlike some of my peers, I actually enjoyed it.

Bass is the only instrument that I feel driven to play.
I’ll noodle around on other instruments, but they definitely don’t feel like “home” to me.
If anything, I’d consider recording gear as my second instrument.

I played drums before either bass or guitar, back in my teens, and sometimes find myself behind a drum set. It's totally in the open, though--my bass, guitar and drums all know about each other and everybody's cool with the arrangement

I do own an acoustic guitar, but almost never play it.

Hah!! Funny thread title. A real grabber!! Yes, I also have a Fender Tele and a Roland digital piano, but my basses get about 99% of my play time. That's pretty close to monogamous, no??

I'm a band director who has also taught orchestra. So in addition to playing every instrument in the band hall/orchestra room, I own almost all of them, too. I also do bass (duh), guitar, uke, recorder, piano, and a little bit of bagpipes (though a little bit is often too much).

Lol! Bar chords are easy to get in position for me too, but my left middle finger locks into the bar and I have to manually unlock it with my right hand.

I have enough instruments around to jam, if players show up with no instruments. My only claim to competency is with bass. My basses outnumber every other thing combined (except shaker-type stuff).
