    Sapele for a fretboard?

5.5 mm is fine for a fretboard, I have done 5 before. I used the 1/16" diameter side dots Stew Mac sells and all was well :).

BacK bow in new Ovangkol necks with completely loose truss rod

Well I can't give you the perfect answer you require as I haven't done it with a neck I must admit, but I have done it countless times with other guitar based pieces of wood and yes it was permanent. The fact that it's a neck could actually make it work even better, as you have string pull...

BacK bow in new Ovangkol necks with completely loose truss rod

Clamp them flat and leave for a couple of weeks. Don't try removing any material from anything till you know you have to....and you don't have to right now. No heat will be necessary, the above will get them flat, then you can see what they will do next!

    Simple 5 string bolt-on

Yeah, with my press anyway the slowest speed works out best, the holes are clean as can be and never burn. When I first started using them I used them at a higher speed and got very similar results to you....mess and heat! Also if you let them get really hot by using them at too high of a speed...

    Simple 5 string bolt-on

Good tip but I don't think thats the issue here, it looks like his bit is spinning way too fast, Forstner bits shouldnt ever burn. Use your slowest drill setting.

    Sanding a headstock?

You don't say the purpose of the sanding, is it to remove scratches? Difficult to advise, but you most definitely wont need anything more than a sanding block and paper....not even elbow grease (it'll be very light work unless you're trying to remove all finish from it)

Anyone build just a neck for someone

If planing for the fingerboard is a problem, how are you going to plane the wings to join the neck beam? They won't come with a glue-able edge when you buy them.

    Help Regarding Neck Angles

Just because it hasn't been mentioned yet (unless I missed it) fender basses don't have a neck angle, so you don't need to worry.

    Distance nut to bridge

String the E and the G with the bridge unattached to the body, pull tight then move the bridge to bass or treble side to the point where you have an equal measurement on both sides of the strings. You measure to the edge of fingerboard from the edge of the string....hope that makes sense! As...

Single Cut Bass Build Idea - Help Needed

I'm not quite sure I understand, but if you mean what I think you mean wouldn't that extend the neck a long way away? As in you would need to reach a long way for fret 1.

Thunderbird - E string sounds dull

Is it dull acoustically when not plugged in to an amp? If yes, then it will probably be a bad string...it happens. If when plugged in its probably pickup height.

    Über-Groove 32" Primavera/Purpleheart

Just to make clear for any beginners reading its not a good idea to do the roundover (with a router) after drilling the jack hole, if the jack is mounted on the side of the body. If you do, theres a good chance the bearing guiding the bit will 'fall' into the hole, creating a big mess of a...

Neck screws not screwing into neck

Nope, you'll need to fill them, or fit threaded inserts I'm sorry. Its not that you drilled them too deep, but too wide

That heat is doing you no favours, if it dries out too quick your going to have problems (which you are doing).

    Bass help!

May be worth looking at a short scale bass, which will make those stretches easier :). Maybe a fender mustang bass if you want to stick with the fender vibe but have a short scale.
