Source Audio Sorcerers Society (S.A.S.S) Part 3

I have owned dozens of envelope filters and sold them all. From EBS to Mutron. The one I kept happened to be the original BEF. Let it go when I got the Spectrum but wish I had kept it. Never thought I'd seriously consider a digital envelope filter yet the BEF made a believer out of me...

    Giannini Jazz bass copy? GB-1

Its 2024 and this thread is still useful. Hard to find first hand experiences regarding these basses but I know if someone in the U. S owned one of these basses there would be some discussion here. Thanks.

What is the biggest POS bass you have played?

A Series 10. Black P/J connfiguration. Got it in the early 90s. My first bass. Paid $30 & a pack oof Marlboros for it. Guy got the smokes and almost took off without the cash. I think he got the better end of the deal. Horrible bass. Went from that to a Peavey T-40 which I let go for almost...

The Official Hartke Club Part 2

I have had an HD75 for years now and I kinda love it. Thought I would sell it when I bought my Orange but I didnt. I can get the cops to show up with it and I'm not exactly living in the city. More than enough amp for the house. Was gonna get a head and cab but they would just be pushing...

Bass Cables - Which ones are worth it?

I bought a couple Planet Waves American Stage cables a while back and love em. I have a bunch of other cables of various brands lying around but the planet waves always work. I've had to do minor repairs on most the other brands. The Pig Hogs had some poppers, too. For what its worth,I have an...

Resources for learning how to solder?

I bought a set of wire connectors that are essentially plaatic tubes with a ring of solder in the center. You slip the ends of the wires you wish to onnect into the ends and use a heat gun to solder/shrink wrap the wires all at once. Its handy, although soldering two wires together is the easiest...

Resources for learning how to solder?

The PDF file in my previous post is a manual for anyone getting started on soldering. Its a skill you can only really learn by doing it yourself but the PDF I attatched in the earlier post is a good book for beginners. I also have other books in PDF format related to repair and lutherie in general.

Can you really tell your tonewoods?

Browsing through old threads and had to read this one. When I still had a Facebook account I was in a lot of bass related groups. This subject was always being discussed and there were many that claimed they could hear the difference in woods. One day I made a few sound clips of different basses...
