What benefit does owning multiple basses give you?

Theres no right or wrong way for me. It's just as valid to have the one bass, which you know inside out and goes everywhere with you or several which all scratch a particular itch. For many years I was the former with my trusty '92 Ray which I've had since I was a teenager. But just recently...

Lindy fralin P pickup, worth fitting to a Sadowsky HPJ?

I've recently been toying with the idea of trading my sadowsky mv4 hpj for a fender tony franklin. However, I came to the conclusion that its too good a bass to let go. However, I'd like to get a more vintage tone out of the p pickup when solo'd. Is it worth fitting a lindy fralin p pickup or...

Thoughts/experiences with Tony Franklin Precision (fretted version)?

Cheers WoodyJ! I'm in the same camp as you. I have a stingray 4HH with a 5 way selector which I love, but haven't got on so well with the blend knob on my Sadowsky HPJ - I guess I like to have it pretty simple. I get the feeling that this could be the one - its got nitro finish, passive, PJ...

Thoughts/experiences with Tony Franklin Precision (fretted version)?

Has anyone had any experience of the Tony Franklin Precision (fretted version)? I'm fundamentally after a really good classic P-bass tone, which led me down the path of a passive american standard P-bass. Was trying to find one in a natural finish, and ended up stumbling upon the Tony...

What new amp should I buy?

Second hand is definitely the way to go. You will get so much more for your money, especially of you dont mind something a little heavier.

    Headphone amp vs. Small combo

Whatever option you take, make sure it has an aux in so that you can practice with backing music, drum machine etc. I'd go with the phil jones bass buddy or cafe walter, both really good quality headphone amps. Cost a bit more, but not ridiculously expensive either. If that's too speedy then...

Differences between genz Benz shuttle 2 210t and 112t cabs?

Cheers! Truth be told I'd already taken the plunge on a new 6.2 210t prior to making the post, but was having a bit of a panic as to whether I'd done the right thing. Your response was exactly hat I had wanted to hear, as my intention was to sacrifice a bit of portability for bigger sound.

Differences between genz Benz shuttle 2 210t and 112t cabs?

Good stuff. I've not been able to try the two side by side and had to make a quick decision on a 112 or a 210 which were up for sale.

Differences between genz Benz shuttle 2 210t and 112t cabs?

Merry Christmas all. I'm looking at the genz Benz shuttle 6.2 series of amp/combos. Has anyone had any first hand experience of both the 112t and 210t cabs? Is there any notable difference in tone between the two? Most of the reviews have been around the 112t and 6.2 head combo, but I'd...

Musicman Stingray VS Fender American Deluxe P Bass

Go for the ray. I have a stingray hh and a sadowsky rv4- pjh which isn't a million miles away from a precision American deluxe. If I could only have one it'd be the ray, more versatile IMO and you get that fantastic musicman quality. Their guitars just feel and play right.

    Backing Tracks

If you want access to an almost unlimited library, just download a midi player (e.g. sweet midi for ipad). You can then google search for midi tracks of any songs you are interested in and use the midi tracks as backing. As its midi, you can control each instrument e.g. turn off the bass track...

Novus plastic polish for buffing out body scratches???

I've just picked up a used Sadowsky RV4-HPJ Its in good nick apart from very fine scratches from normal use and I'm in half a mind to give it a bit of a spruce up before it joins the herd. I've used novus plastic polish with good results to buff up some 2nd hand pick guards that I've...
