The best bass overdrive artist/band,album,song either or or all?

In that case, it would be cheaper to ''replicate'' that sound than to ''emulate'' it. :smug: Acoustic 450/470 with 8x10 and/or Guitar Cabinets. Rickenbacker with bypassed pots... for optimal (crazy-ass) output. Oubviously, as loud as you possibly can. And lots of booze... to make you...

Who inspired you to become a bassist? (part 2)

QOTSA and Eagles of Death Metal groovy/fuzzy basslines Chris Squire Jesse F. Keeler Lemmy ...And all those ''4 strings guitarists'' Paul McCartney John Stirratt For those wonderful hollowbody sounds.

    Club Canada!!!

Greetings from Montreal, Quebec! I'm glad to see some canadians in here... it makes me so sad when I want to buy something from the TB classifieds that only ships CONUS. :spit: Anyways, oldschool player here. I mainly use my 1982' Fullerton Fender Precision (RI62) strung with big, old...

Looking for a compression pedal....Do i need one specifically for bass?

Of course, ears are the key when it comes to compression... But still. Im used to looking at gr meter for setting attack/release, especially when I want it to pump in sync with the tempo of the song. Also, it is really useful for sidechaining purposes. Anyways, cool to hear another good review...

    overdrive/fuzz quest

Mmmhhh... I'm really intrigued by the SFT. I must admit that the demos Catalinbrea posted on Youtube really seduced me, especially the Motown one! I'll try one soon. My 3 advices about this Fuzz/dist. quest... B:assmaster, B:assmaster and B:assmaster. I've got the Silverburst double Germ one...

Looking for a compression pedal....Do i need one specifically for bass?

Did you actually try the Empress Compressor? I heard great things about it! I'm GASing big-time for this lil' sparkly box! I'm not a freak of compression, I just want to add some punch when I play with my thumb/fingers... something like 5-6dB Gain reduction at a 4:1 ratio, nothing too...

    Tuner Recomendations...

Don't get me started on the adhesive rubber underneat. My pedalboard is all messy and goey because of it. Arggghhhhh.

    Reggae Bass EQ

Tone rolled off (almost) all the way with foam mute... and play softly. For my part, that's how I get the reggae sound I have in my head. The Moog MF-101 is also great for these tones! Close the filter to about 1KHz... and there you go! But still, I find the bass' (passive) tone knob to be...

    Guild Starfire: Bridge VS Neck

It may sound like a simple question, but I've always wondered... So, everybody knows that you have in your arsenal a (beautiful) 2 pickups 60's Guild Starfire Bass. I tried one with only a bridge pickup lately, and it sounded wonderful... lots of upper mid ''Tic-Toc'' with a round even...

    Quality Tuner

DON'T! Worst tuner IMHO! Heavy, tracks like crap and (in my setup) has this annoying 440Hz hum when it's on. Just my 2 cents, no offense!

    Punchy Bass Fuzz Pedals?

Not very original but... Malekko B:Assmaster. There's a reason why it's so popular... It cuts in a mix like a knife cuts in warm butter. If you want a colder/synthy sound, try the Silicon one. For a warmer/vintage/harmonic go with Germies.

    Which preamp/EQ/DI pedal ?

For my part, I own a EBS Microbass II. It's a really really cool unit if you use it how you're supposed to. The DI and Speaker simulator are very natural! I, personnaly, use the first channel (SVT-ish) all flat, with the speaker sim. Sometimes, depending on the gig/room, I'll rolloff some...

    Tuner Recomendations...

ANTHING BUT THE PLANET WAVES ONE. Don't make the same mistake I did. It tracks like crap, it's heavy and does this annoying 440Hz hum thing when it's on. This tuner gives me nightmare at night... I'm getting a freakin' Polytune soon. spit
