    12 Things Bassists Hate

You are obviously not putting enough sugar and butter in your oatmeal.

    12 Things Bassists Hate

Well.... I guess that explains why I play so poorly. What's the easiest instrument to play really well? Maybe I'll switch.

What was your bass progression & why?

2000 - Mex P bass Tried to learn from books for about a month. That didn't work. Took one lesson. Hated the guy. Into the closet went the P bass. 2014 - Got the bass out of the closet. Used the internet to learn a little. Found a good teacher (not necessarily a good bass teacher though)...

What was your main bass when you first joined TB; and what is it now?

MIM P then Ibanez SR 650 now Also have a LTD B4-E and I don't intend to ever buy another bass.

    POLL: 'Road worn'/'Reliced' - Do you like/hate?

I'd feel like such a poser holding an instrument that somebody had attempted to make appear to have been played so much that the paint is worn off. BTW: I have never seen an artificially worn instrument that didn't look artificially worn.

Fender RUMBLE 40 or Ampeg BA110V2

The Ampeg has one feature that i think is huge for a practice amp. It has a level knob on the aux input. My rumble 350 head just dumps the aux into the power amp with no control. I assume most amps do that. The problem is that if you are playing at bedroom volume, you have to turn the signal...

Do you need to get along with/like your bandmates to be in the band?

People are only mean to you if you let them be.

    2x15 cab question

    That's pretty loud.

POLL: Do you mod your basses?

I have a LTD B4E that feels like a woman in my hands but needs an electronics transplant, which it will get soon. I also have a Ibanez SR650 that seems to me to be perfect as is. It's like beating your guitar player. You only do it if it's needed. BTW: i need a guitar player.

    2 heads better than one?

The worst bands I have ever heard all sound like everyone is trying real hard "to be heard". Sounds like the OP's band may not have a handle on that.

So You Went To An "Open" Jam.......

I think the OP hurt some open jammers little feelings. Seroiusly, ***. He didn't say open jams are just a bunch of people awkwardly fumbling through shopworn blues tracks. He said that was what he envisions it to be and wanted to hear from people who had attended them. Presumably because he...

So You Went To An "Open" Jam.......

Actually, that was a very appropriate response to some who is being a dick. Why are people defending this guy?

    Hitting that brick wall

I would recommend to the OP that he not wait until he is good enough to play his part in a band that's "going somewhere" before hooking up with other musicians. I would in fact advocate that he join what ever crappy group of hacks that will have him and Dan's delicate sensibility be dammed.

    Hitting that brick wall

I'm about a year ahead of you, so I know what you are going through. At 4-6 months it's unlikely that strangers are going to want to play with you. I would start working on learning as many songs as you can. Te goal here is to get to the point that people will play with you. Learn standards...

Why DID the Beatles Get so Famous?

I think we should start a poll to see if this is the worst poll ever. None of the answers seem to give the Beatles any credit. I never really considered myself a big Beatles fan but you have to give credit where it is due. They were a two genius band with a fresh sound that people loved...
