Young Irish guy thinking of moving to the US

This. If you're wanting to play music, definitely head to the Nashville area. It has an excellent local music scene, and is the place to go in the US if you're looking for a recording studio and/or record company. You wouldn't believe how many big artists are from around there. It's also a...

Your favorite "Live" album of all time.

Metallica- S&M Normally I'm not a rabid Metallica fan but that was an awesome album.

I have a $100 GC card and no idea what to buy...halp?

^ You know, I think you're right. Still, it'd be nice to get something new to play with out of this, you know? Maybe a cheap dano pedal or something? I know some of those are pretty good, if a bit cheap. That or a synth...the SB-7 is cheap and not digital, while the GNX has less-than-stellar...

I have a $100 GC card and no idea what to buy...halp?

^ That. I'm trying to figure out how to spend this thing, and get the most out of it. Musically, my band (and my playing, to an extent) is pretty similar to this: Most of the stuff I want can't be bought with $100 here, so I'm a bit lost. I was thinking some sort of effects pedal, but I'm...

Sports that aren't really known outside your home country? Whats yours?

My town hosts an annual cardboard boat race every year. ESPN has covered it a few times. Some of the boats these people manage to make boggle my mind. I'm sure this is done elsewhere but I've yet to see it done on this scale, lol. It's held in Heber Springs, AR if anyone wants to google it...

Double Bass Pride, Prejudice, and zombies

I quite enjoy living in the south honestly, although Arkansas' ever-changing weather can be a downer sometimes.

What gear makes you look old?

Pretty sure a solid 1/3 of TB has fit this at one point or another, lol.

What are the 2 or 3 must have pedals?

A tuner and preamp/di are both very useful in any situation. Other than that, it's all up to your playing style. I'd add some sort of modulation and maybe a compressor, but that's just me.

Can anyone recommend me a 200 watt (ish) bass amp with a 12 inch speaker?

What's your price range? Instead of going for smaller speakers, you could just get something with neo speakers and maybe a class D head. For example, this Peavey TKO is less expensive than the electric blue, but is 26 pounds lighter than the Ashdown Mag 300 and apparently more powerful as well...

    "P" sound from a 5 string ...

The Ibanez ATK supposedly has a very P-like sound.

Yes SUHR! Calling all Suhr players.. Post em'

Ah, thanks. :) You know, normally I don't think much of jazz copies in terms of looks, but these things are really awesome.

Yes SUHR! Calling all Suhr players.. Post em'

This may be a bit off topic, but how do you pronounce "Suhr"? I've been saying "soor", but the thread title makes it sound like "serr/sir"

    Should i grow some balls?

Agreed. I was playing onstage less than two weeks after I got my first bass, with no prior experience. I was really a little too over my head, but I learned very fast.
