    Questions--Buffalo Springfield

According to Wiki, Stills played bass (and pretty much everything else) on Questions, which explains the awesome lead-bass lines. My advice: play along, over and over. Get an app that allows you to slow down the track while keeping the pitch the same. You'll get it, I promise.

Here I sit, 2 hours early...

....because, as the equivalent of mushrooms, no one tells us anything (This is now, Thurs 1/23). Gig starts at 8 so we thought, so I'm here a little after 7. Oh, there's an opening band and we don't go on till 9:30? No problem, I'll just sit out in my car and kvetch about it for a while while...

    Dumb Salesman at GC

I worked in a music store, a few lifetimes ago, for a few years - still have the '61 Strat I snagged after it was traded in on a Tele but sadly traded off the perfect Gibby ES-355 back before I moved south. Human trolls aka a******s are nothing new, I would've definitely come back with a...

    Monkey ****!

I was in between things, our well established original fusion-ish band having collapsed due to the usual interference of Peruvian marching powder. Late 70's & the Atlanta scene was trendy in a sort of braindead way. The Urban Cowboy craze hit like a bomb, suddenly dozens of discos were cowboy...

    Lightest Flats?

I finally sprung for two sets of Labella's, the LTs and 760FX Deep Talkin'. Put the the LTs on the old P/J and viola! Perfect, the lower tension corrected the bowing, and what a huge difference in feel and tone from the Fender 9050s I've been using for so many years! No sense of "floppiness" at...

    Lightest Flats?

.....and now I just ordered a set of LaBella 760FX's, they might be an even better fit with a .096 E. Yesterday I gigged with a guitarist front guy who solos forever on fast blues stuff, my old hands started to numb out. That was on my Jazz with older D'Addario half rounds, which feel more like...

    Lightest Flats?

I ordered the LaBella LTs, we'll see how they do on my oldest bass pal

    Lightest Flats?

OP here Um...actually I appreciate the variety of opinions and suggestions, including the "lightest shoe for a broken leg" comparison. The ol' P/J is the seldom played back bench ax, while my other 3 get all the gig time. I didn't mean to provoke such passion and gnashing of teeth. But I'll...

    Lightest Flats?

Thanks, good call and I'll do likewise. I have three other basses but this is currently my oldest, a bit of sentimental attraction.

    Lightest Flats?

Of course I should consider having the truss rod replaced but I really don't want to bother with a new neck - this poor old Craigslist rescue was abused 10 ways from Sunday before I got it about 15 years ago, and looks it. Funky, with lots of mojo, but great feel and tone. It might be a...

    Lightest Flats?

I've got a beloved but beat up old MIJ P/J with a shot truss rod. I get by with light half-rounds but even those are a bit too high on the neck for my lazy old hands, so today I'm going back to the Rotosound Funkmaster crazy lights, even though I'm not a round wound guy. What are the lightest...

Does Anyone Else Hate the TSA Approved Fender Bass Cases?

What??? I have the same case and sorry, but I really don't get your gripe. The latches are robust and trustworthy - there's nothing "plastic" about the actual closure parts. A zillion years ago I had a new Les Paul Custom black beauty with their premium plastic case, which was truly garbage -...

    What's your favorite Compressor Pedal...

Ditto that, compressors are foolproof. I've been a compressor pedal junkie since the very first one, the 18v Maestro Sustainer. Back then (very early 70's) feeding two 9v's a a pop was a real pain, and I was jazzed bigtime when MXR came out with the Dyna-Comp. Still battery only of course, but...

what basses haven't worked out for you... and why?

Re neck dive - this makes my face sad, because it's such an easy issue to remedy. When I used to (briefly) gig on an Epi Thunderbird I immediately noticed a neck dive situation. Checked online and *duh* easy fix! Relocate the strap button to the opposite horn. Balance achieved.
