"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

There is no reason you can’t open up the nut a little with a proper sized file. Things to keep in mind are using the proper sized file, so that you end up with the rounded bottom to match the string, and so the slot doesn’t become sloppy. The other thing is make sure to keep the angle on the...

"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

I found to get just about all the noise from the pickups, not only did I have to shield the pickup, and control cavities, but I had to shield the pickups as well.

I apologize, I erased my other post because I miss read that you had already done the control cavity. Carry on, lol!

"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

John, the control cavity was harder than the pickups, you can do it! One tip is that you might want to put some tape or something on the pickups, or take measurements so you can get the pickups back to the depth you had them easily.

"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

The shielding paint in mine wasn’t done very well, and wasn’t even connected between the cavities, as far as I could tell. It made all the difference in the world when I shielded is the pickup routes, pickups, and the control cavity

"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

I pulled the pots, to do the shielding, but left it wired up and fit the copper foil to it by pulling things out of the way. On my one bass I had to de-solder the the output jack but I didn’t on the Mikro.

"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

I shielded my pickup cavities, and control cavities, and it helped a lot. It didn’t totally get all of the hum but most of it. To get just about all the rest, I ended up pulling the pickups apart and shielding them. I just did a search for pickup shielding and found a great article on premier...

The Official Short Scale Bass Club -- Part 4

On my Mikro, not only did I have to shield the cavities to get rid of the hum, but I had to shield the pickups themselves. It is almost “noiseless” but I might actually have to ground the pole pieces in the pickups still...

"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

I am using D’Addario tapewounds on mine. I love the sound, but if you are looking for more percussive sound, the tapewound might muffle that.

"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

I should have taken pictures, but I didn’t. I don’t know if I will have problems in the future, but I used the copper tape to make a path for the pickup shielding to the cover shielding, then ran another piece of copper tape to the bottom of the cover, and made a tab to sit against the cavity...
