Why did the J never dethrone the P?

Well, it did. The Stratocaster is the bestselling guitar type in history. Of course, plenty of people still love the Tele, and Fender sells tons of them, but the Strat is the king.

Damn, when did Guitar Center start selling Sire basses?

I saw them a week ago at the Guitar Center in Plano.

    Getting old

You may consider trying one of Ibanez's SR series basses. They've got a 34" scale but the body is smaller and lighter than most basses, and the necks are very slim and narrow. So much so that I was sure it was a short-scale bass when I first tried it out and made my local dealer get a tape...

Retiring in 2021 ........ Anyone Else?

I retired at the end of 2019. Also was diagnosed with throat cancer at the same time. After chemo and radiation I was told I was in remission from the throat cancer in June of 2020. Yay. Unfortunately I was told at the same time that i also had colon cancer. Ugh. The throat cancer didn't spread...

    Fender Sting P-Bass Pickup suggestions.

So I picked up a used Fender Sting P-Bass, and by and large its pretty awesome, but as many a reviewer has pointed out the pickup is pretty weak. Very weak. Anybody have any recommendations for a good replacement? I'd appreciate the help. Thanks!

Artists everyone likes that you don't understand

A joke as old as time. I've heard it referring to both Pink Floyd and The Grateful Dead.

How many basses do you own? (Currently) Part 2

I currently have 13 basses, including a U-bass and a standup. I've also got 33 guitars. And I've just retired, and have to move all of them from NY to Texas once I find a place to live down there. It's not going to be fun.

So where is THE next Live Music Capital? 'Cause I'm retiring soon and I definitely want to be in a location with a good music scene?

Which Bass do you most regret selling?

My very first bass, a MIJ Fender P-Bass Lyte. I got out of playing bass for a while, and gave it to my niece. When I got back into the bass, much more heavily this time, I wanted it back... it was my first after all. Ultimately I bought her another MIJ Fender P-Bass Lyte and traded it for my...

    Weight vs. Tone

Being a fairly large, beefy fellow, who does a fair amount of hard physical work all day to earn my keep, I don't really worry about the weight of my instruments. If they feel good and sound good I'm a happy camper.

    Colour complimentary

Tortoiseshell, absolutely. Don't have a sea foam green bass (yet), but here's a picture of my Cabronita Tele

fender dimension bass V deluxe-would this bother you?...

There is no need for a bridge adjustment, the fret markers aren't off center. The neck just needs to be moved a touch. Loosen the screws a bit, push the neck in the needed direction and re-tighten the screws. I've had this happen to Strats, Teles and my P-Bass.
