Colour complimentary

parchment or mint green

Depends on the features of the neck. With a rosewood/similar fingerboard I would suggest that a similar or complementary color of tort (the tort coloring matches the fingerboard) would be perfect—but white-pearloid or white would work too. With a maple fingerboard, I’d think white-pearloid would be best, or 3-ply black as second choice. Look at a ton of google images... and consider the headstock styling as part of the whole vibe (i.e. color-match, black, natural wood would steer me somewhat). If you like your result, then you’re good to go!

Not exactly part of the original question, but is there a road-worn or relic’d aspect to this? That could matter too. I don’t particularly care for relic’d myself, but with the sea foam green there are a few very cool versions where by accident or on purpose, the distressed sea foam green areas reveal some other “original color” showing through, which would affect the whole vibe and pickguard choice too.

Seafoam green and tort? No. Sage and auburn. Yes, when handled right.

This picture is no accident. The colour of the background is as important as the model in front of it. The sooty shade of eye shadow unites the colours, synchronizes with the background . The echo of auburn in the background on the left side also helps to harmonize the whole. And look at the blend of colour in the flesh tones -sage is picked up in the shadings. THe eyes are the colour of the background, picking up the highlight of the slash of lighter colour to the right of her eye.

But seafoam and tort won't work on its own. Like oil and water. They don't mix. If you have an emollient you can get them to work together.

Tort works if you want it to work. I can’t do it (Tort and SF) because it does remind me of Christmas. If you plan on gigging around the holidays in a seaside town, though.....I don’t think any combo is more fitting.

Precision Bass
Decoboom has a bunch of sweet pickguards that would look incredible with seafoam. Their Streamline guard designs are actually engraved on 3 ply - definitely a level beyond your typical printed pickguard.

If you don't see what you want on the site, send a message to Andrew. The Streamline pg I got for my Precision wasn't on the site.

What colour pickguard would folks recommend to go on a sea foam green body?

I don't think the term complimentary colors means quite what you think it means.

Complementary colors fall on opposite sides of the color wheel and creates very obvious contrast. I believe the complement for sea foam would fall somewhere between red and orange.

White, white pearloid, parchment, or black have all been mentioned and I think any of those would work. Really torn between the white pearloid and black, but those would be my top choices.

On another note, a dark green would probably work as well or maybe even better than black on top of seafoam. Or go the opposite direction with it, a green that is actually lighter in color than the seafoam color of the body.
