@twelvetrombones I’m looking at a Kingman- locally... pls share ur thoughts after playing for awhile? Thx!

I got it mainly to have a bass I can just have in the living room and noodle around on, without bothering anyone. Also to use in any potential future sort of acoustic setting, I guess. The main thing I like about it is the Jazz bass neck, which felt instantly familiar. Workmanship on the bass is good but not great, with some rough areas on the back of the neck. Pretty decent fretwork though, and nice and easy to play. The lack of a second strap button is a bit annoying, so playing with a strap requires something to go around the endpin jack.

Great- thx! Those are exactly the (type of) questions I had... I’m not crazy about the ‘Fender’ headstock- looks odd on an acoustic- but thats just cosmetic. I have 2-P basses w/J necks & just picked up a CIJ Mustang- which is 1.5”... want an acoustic for same as yourself- this might be the one! I may make an offer- see how it goes.

Thx again!

An Epiphone Viola, might sell.
A Squier VM Jazz Bass V, currently in the hand of the "proper" bassist of my band (I'm the drummer :D).
A Warwick Rockbass Fortress, for sale.
A Gibson SG Bass, my main axe and never letting go.
Gassing for a proper Jazz bass now, as in my other posts. ;)

I've started a little collection with basses (and guitars) I've collected over the years. Now I'm addicted to Reverb. I have a few rules, every instrument must have a purpose. Each must have its' own voice. All money taken in from selling basses goes back into the collection.

I've currently got 6 D. Lakin's, 4 Lakland's, 1 Stingray, 1 Harmony, 1 Rickenbacker, 1 Kalamazoo. If anyone's interested I'll give more detail as to why they are included in the collection.

I once read some good advice here. "always/only get a new bass that covers something you don't already have." ie:if you're "gassing" for a new bass try to get 1 that you do'nt already have or 1 that fills in an area that's not covered (5-string/fretless) For instance if you have a good Pbass & Musicman, but no jazz. then Get a jazz. Statement issued from the Department of redundency Dept:)
