    Does this ever stop?

I think it's because the insinuation is that bass should be felt and not heard, or some such nonsense. Personally, I like to hear my bass (within reason and without sacrificing a good live mix). Both are possible.

Radial J48 vs Countryman Type85 vs VT Bass DI

The option of going ampless (or in case my amp dies mid set) is exactly why I decided on a VT bass deluxe. I actually really dig the "rig in a box" thing they have going. Sounds really good to my ears. So, I vote VT Bass DI.

Best Strings for Fender American Deluxe jazz

I have used Ernie Ball strings on my American Deluxe Jazz in the past but thought they died too quickly. I have used Chromes and liked them a lot, but recently decided that I needed some of the overtones only found in rounds. I recently put on a set of GHS Pressurewounds and they sound...

Love my passive Jazz Bass But want more volume out of it?

Sounds to me like you need more speakers! Generally, more speakers = more volume. A preamp pedal may color your tone, and if you like your tone, why mess with a good thing?

    Bass pedal setup

Suggest a distortion? Well, I followed advice on this board and got a Darkglass b3k. It's epic. I'm seriously in love with my tone and get tons of compliments (but I play in a pretty heavy band, YMMV).

    Bass pedal setup

Nope sorry, your most recent one (AMP----DI---- (Chorus)-----DIST-----COMP----TUNER----wireless-----BASS). This is the order that makes the most sense to me. But experimenting never hurt!

    Bass pedal setup

I know I'm nitpicking a bit here, but I think you really should think of your chain the other way around. Your signal starts with your fingers on the bass and goes from there. Your pedal order in the previous post is how I would do it though. You might also want to try different flavours of...

    Should I change factory strings?

If the sound of the bass isn't right to you, you can try. No need really unless the strings are old. Personally, I would - but I've experimented with lots of strings and have found some I really like. Generally, flatwound strings sound darker but feel smooth, nickle rounds are a bit rougher...

I'm just going to leave this here.

And I know it's been said all over the place a thousand times, but you won't be disappointed with the B3K. It takes a bit of time to learn its subtleties, but once you're familiar with it, it really rocks. I'm not sure you want a VT bass, you already have an MXR preamp that gets a fair...

Haha! Jimmy M's got it right. ;) The Ampeg sound really does rock. I just like having the option of getting that big sound at low or high volumes!

No problem at all man! I just mention I'm a finger player because the OP said he liked the description of my tone and said he plays with his fingers. I wanted him to know I do as well! Pick, fingers, it's all good!

I play only fingerstyle as well. I usually play close to the bridge with the bridge pickup either favored or solo'd. This to me allows the articulation to come through as well as emphasize the overdrive (I assume it's a mids thing). To me, the real magic to the tone I have right now is the...

Upgrading my amp, looking for some informed answers.

I think you're going to get a few replies telling you that your guitarists are too loud, but if you play heavy loud music, your going to need an amp with some guts to keep up. I don't see any problem pairing that amp/cab (except that a 210 may not give you the volume you want - you might...
