Okay I found a new toy... A Japanese-made SK5DX. Excellent condition, excellent price. I am excite. I can't find much in the way of soundclips though. Anyone familiar with them? Same pup configuration as a 55-02 but it has Duncans.

I don't feel like it's worth the effort at this point. This bass is giving off bad juju and I want it gone lol. The company I bought it for is giving me a full refund so I'm just gonna pick up something else.

Well I confirmed that the neck on my 44-02 was bad. Had quite a bad bow in it and the truss rod was absolutely maxed - I was pretty certain but I feel better having it double-checked by a pro! Also noticed that the neck was pretty unstable, really flexing with minor pressure applied to it. So...

It's not frozen. It loosens up (which I did before tightening it), and tightens, but it gets to a point where it's just too hard to turn without using some serious force which I obviously don't want to do. It's already got quite a bow to it and won't tighten, that's the problem.

The truss rod feels like it's already as tight as it'll go :(
