The pickup placement sort of reminds of my 2 p-pickup bass, except with hum buckers. That you can tap those coils makes that a very versatile bass! Is that a Carl Pedigo bass?

Not great quality, just snapped it with my phone. She needs a setup and on closer inspection it seems like it was probably an ex-demo rather than brand new as advertised. I'm going to hit the seller up for a discount but I think I will hang on to it

Are Skyline necks interchangeable? E.g. Korean 1.5" DJ4 neck with Korean 1.75" Glaub? I've never had an appropriate Glaub to try it.
In GENERAL ....Korean Skylines should be..... The early indo ones had some issues with the screw holes not being consistent ..... I THINK this has been fixed though...
However.... The DJ necks are a unique neck all their own.... The radius is different and the number of frets is different.... So I would say try the fit before you exchange
Hey dudes, back again. I've had a chance to play the 44-02 now and I'm happy with the sound. It plays like a dog though. I'm sure it's probably just in need of a setup, but I'm worried I'll end up setting it up and it'll still play like a dog. I still have the option to return it as it's clearly not in the condition it was supposed to be, so I don't really know what to do!
The E is 3mm off at the 7th and almost 3.5mm at the 21st. I've never done my own setups (I know, I know) so I'm not really willing to touch it myself, but I also don't want to pay for a setup if I'm not sure I'm keeping it... SIGH

Try this from Carl Pedigo, it's not hard. Watch the videos and be patient.
Try releasing the string tension, then loosening the truss rod so that it gets a little back bow. Then tune to pitch and try adjusting.
There are a couple reasons the nut could stop turning. Maybe the neck is really stiff, and you just can't turn hard enough. Bending or clamping the neck to take off the strain will work in this case, you'll take of the load and just turn the nut. Or, it may just be frozen. Almost always, before tightening a truss rod, you should first loosen it.
It's not frozen. It loosens up (which I did before tightening it), and tightens, but it gets to a point where it's just too hard to turn without using some serious force which I obviously don't want to do. At that point the strings are still 2+mm above the frets. Holding the 1st and 12/13th (per the above video), the space under the 6th is still nearly 1mm.
If you lay a straightedge on the fretboard, how much distance is between the straightedge at the 6th or 7th fret? Should be less than a millimeter. If you can't get that much relief, I'd consider exchanging the bass. You should be able to set it up for relief between 8 and 12 (.2 mm to .3 mm) gauge feeler gauge, like you use on a spark plug.
