    SPECTOR® Owners Club

Remember that food you didn’t care for as a kid that you love now?? (It was hominy for me… dad loved that awful stuff, I hated it… put it in red chilie and call it Pasole and I’m all in) anyway… that’s a lot like my experience with Spector I bought a USA NS JH 5 bolt on back in 2004 or so...

I had my eye on that bass on Reverb and went go put in an offer Monday night it was “no longer available” I cursed out loud. Congrats! I wish you two a long and happy life together… But if something does come up…

    Spector enthusiasts?

I think that may be an older performer model, but they usually have a more descriptive "designed by spector in woodstock, NY. Crafted in wherever it was made" statement, rather than just a serial number....

Is anyone else weirded out by tribute artists/acts?

My band has a “covers of covers” rule. Not all the covers we do are, but if there’s a song that has been covered by a big band- we do that version, not the original…. I.e. Metallica’s version of Turn the Page instead of Bob Seeger’s original.

Is anyone else weirded out by tribute artists/acts?

I’m not a fan of tribute acts. I understand Beatles and Pink Floyd, a Zeppelin act here and there, acts like Iron Maidens that do faithful recreations with a twist I.e. an all girl group doing Iron Madien, a song book in a novel style like Jazz is Dead, or complete mockery and silly costumes...

I like discontinued basses. Am I alone?

right? They’re very… vintage-esque? To me they are a cross between a Ric and and stingray- at least the ones with the super J6 pups. I think back to what people were actually playing on stages in the early 80’s, they do scream “80’s” but not in a neon nostalgia kind of way :-)

You mean these? Ibanez Roadstar II’s from 1983 and 1984. There’s a white ‘86 in it’s case somewhere. I guess I’m on the lookout for an 85 of some flavor to round out the set

EBMM no longer makes "The StingRay"?

Gibson? 1/2 of what Ibanez puts out? Did you see the Riccisionazz Jackson thing???

EBMM no longer makes "The StingRay"?

this. And if Sterling is anything he’s a marketing genius and someone that knows how to turn lemons into the sweetest lemonade you’d ever taste. My bet is they recognized the issues presented by the pandemic, and decided to pull a “New Coke” move by restricting production to just the Specials...

    Is this a bass guitar?

Absolutely no one that is aware of it has ever disputed Tutmarc’s creation as being the first bass guitar. It can be debated if Leo Fender was aware of it before creating the first mass produced and commercially viable electric bass guitar. Posting a thread asking if it is or isn’t...

Geddy USA and Tom Brantley Rewinds

And my set got here a few days ago, finally put them in last night. Wow. crazy good. A punchier low end than the stock in the MIJ. totally worth it!

Geddy USA and Tom Brantley Rewinds

Just sent Tom my ducats for a set this AM... for the 2007 MIJ GL that arrived yesterday! The stock pu's would probably be fine, but I found out about Tom's custom sets while I was researching the purchase of bass and figured if it's good enough for Geddy, why the heck not! That linked sound...

    Huh?! P-Bass Neck Adjustment?

depends, sometimes there is a channel that you can access under the pick guard, but for older P basses or ones modeled after them, you have to remove the neck... or if you're good at it- loosen the neck screws just enough and tilt the heal up to access the truss rod.
