Mine is a 4003 from year 2004 so no adjustable pole pieces here... I´ve tried to use compression and such but the volume from string to string just isn´t even. The E is just being trampled. It really bugs me that I love this bass to death but because of its disability im almost unable to use...

Here´s the problem: Everything about this bass is excellent except the E-string It is kinda weak, empty-sounding. And no, it´s not "the ric-sound", this is just plain wrong. I use 45-105 Rotos. What can be done?

I got my first Rickenbacker just three days ago! I´ve already gigged with it and I can tell you this is the best feeling, sounding and looking bass I´ve ever laid my hands on!

Ghs tapewounds will get you there. Stick some foam to the bridge and you have an illusion of upright sound! The Ghs tapes are the only ones I´ve tried but I was completely happy with them.

If I wanted some raw tubey sound going straight through REDDI I might go for Tech 21 VT Bass. Nails the B15-tone to me.

My musical tastes are more jazz/progrock/psychedelic-oriented but there´s a place in my heart for Meshuggah. My #1 metal band is Mastodon but ´Shuggah is the heaviest for sure.
