    Help me decide....

You need to add a carrots option for none of the above. I think that keeping the eagle is the less cheesy option.

Seriously need help with a P bass --- which one???

I prefer a P & J with a J neck... I guess the neck is a personal opinion but I'd recommend something with bridge p/up. Fender Duff Mckagen maybe?

Bass just not cutting through the mix

Absolutely Blue Talon. I didn't find your post pretentious - I appreciate you calling me on that. Hope i didnt sound defensive, didnt mean to. There likely IS other factors at play. My responses have been in regard to my recent experience where I just couldn't cut through and I found cutting...

Bass just not cutting through the mix

Fair enough Blue Talon, fair enough. It was a massive over simplification based on an assumption. If you object, then I will withdraw my statement.

Bass just not cutting through the mix

"By the way, we had another bassist audition a couple months back. He too used a 1x15" combo, but the sound cut right through with no tweaking on our end. He though, decided to play in another band." There you go. He knew how to set the EQ. She needs to learn. Not criticizing or judging -...

Bass just not cutting through the mix

Sorry - missed your last post while I was posting. When you said she tried boosting mids and it sounded too trebly. Was that in the mix or an assessment of the solo bass sound? I find there's a huge difference between bass solo sound and how it sounds in the mix. What sounds weak thin and...

Bass just not cutting through the mix

A lot of good points being made, but I have to say that a 1x15" can provide a lot of sound. With over 300 watts plenty to keep up with a drummer and fairly loud guitars. I don't know the type of music or the room they're playing in so YMMV... Just reminds me a lot of the scenario ive been...

Bass just not cutting through the mix

Mids. Lots and lots of bass mids. I just went through this scenario and relearned and discovered a lot about EQing bass. She needs to cut at 40 Hz, like pretty much all the way down. Probably 60 hz too... It least half down. And then bump the mids. A lot. The alternative is that the guitarist...

Fender - a new company model that would work

I want one of those P Lytes with EMGs in Daphne Blue with matching headstock. Where do I sign up?

Fender - a new company model that would work

I completely agree that Five Guys is way better than McD. Pretty much disagree with all the stuff about Fender. I'm kind of digging all the options Fender is offering now, including the affordable made in China stuff. If what Fender is doing doesn't increase sales, they'll stop on their own...

    Chinese Made Gutars?

Okcrum - I agree completely. I would never buy a counterfeit or illegal product nor would I buy stolen merchandise. I tried to identify my post as being in regards to legitimate products produced overseas. (IE Fender modern player line etc). As I said few posts back, there are two different...

    Chinese Made Gutars?

Regarding LEGITIMATE products that happen to be produced in China (or any place overseas) It's a global economy. Like it or hate, you can't change it. It's been going this direction a very long time. Don't forget, Christopher Columbus was looking for a better trade route to China when he...

    Chinese Made Gutars?

Duuuuude - I'm starting to get a little lost in this thread, but even if the taxes aren't that different, I think they save the money on the workers wages more than anything. Our economy is so inflated that nobody can live on five dollars an hour, but in China the equivalent of five USD per hour...

    Chinese Made Gutars?

Stating the obvious here, but there are two different conversations going on in this thread. Chinese / over seas manufacture by legitamte companies that choose move manufacturing overseas to cut costs. Counterfit / knock off products being illegally produced and sold in the US. One of those...

    Chinese Made Gutars?

The number of fakes / counterfeit basses I keep hearing about is freaking me out a bit. I always used to shop for lightly used gear and from private sellers to get the most bang for my buck. I'm afraid now. If I was buying a used bass from a brand I'm not familiar with, I could easily get scammed.
