    My Franken 70's P bass with '74 body and '76 neck. I bought the parts off ebay several years ago. I have no idea what happened to the back of the neck. Looks like someone tried to set it on fire.

    Α good p or j and a decent amp are usually enough to get close to most tones we hear on recordings. Time and feel are more crucial IMHO.

    I play a pf 350 through a peavey 410 TX with p or j basses and I never had to turn the bass knob past noon. Huge lows!

    Getting the Most Out of a Jazz Bass

    I set both pickup volume knobs at 9. I find that the sound is more balanced and even like that, while the growly character is retained.
