Things you hate to here OTHER BASS PLAYERS say.

From my father (not a bassist, but plays brass. Thats close enough, right? Only one letter apart.) when I first started: "Why don't you have a Fender? And where's your Marshall? How can you call it an instrument if it isnt a Fender? You know, my buddy Louie down in the club off Tchoup...

I know most don't like Gene Simmons.

I too don't think Simmons is superb. However, he and KISS were the force that pulled me into rock, and for doing so I can't say anything bad about him. Rock on, demon.

If you could be in a tribute band...

Rush. I can sing and I can mash keys well enough to get by when needed. Just need to figure out how to emulate Geddy's voice. Barring that. Allman Brothers.

More info on these please. Im in the market for a smallish combo for practicing and small gigs and These GKs are looking particularly tasty. This thread is the first Ive heard anyone say something bad about them.

    Tribute Bands: Appearance

How mandatory is it for the members of a tribute band to look just like the people they are honoring? I mean physical appearance, not just style. I ask because some people are rather unique. I dare you to try and find a competent bassist that looks like Geddy Lee, or a vocalist who both looks...

Riffs, phrases and/or songs to practice for intonation

I'm not sure how basic how are looking for, but I'll go ahead and suggest Michael Jackson. Beat It, Billy Jean, Smooth Criminal, and Thriller all have simple, easy to play yet fun riffs that you will instantly recognize when you get them right.

    Guitard help needed.

Get a drummer. Team up and play a rhythm that the guitarists' normal patterns do not mesh with. Force adaptation.

    Audition question

I'd go out to him. He sounds competent and I wouldn't want to miss a good opportunity, unless drummers happen to be plentiful in your area. He has more to lose by lugging his drum kit to an audition than you do bringing your gear to him. Besides, this way you'll get to see the guy in his...
