    Guitar Center at it again

You said it! Go in expecting the worse and be happy when you get something better. I would certainly prefer to shop at locally owned businesses, but GC has made very smart business decisions which keep prices low. Sadly, the level of service is usually much lower than the prices.

Bass mods that you think have been amazing!

I concur with the "Changing the bridge doesn't really change the tone" camp, but I will say that the Hipshot A style bridges are a significant upgrade in regards to intonation and tuning. Plus it makes sting replacement super easy. Add high ratio tuners like those offered by Hipshot or...

A song that literally gave you chills

Mike Watt's "Shore Duty" makes me cry every time I hear it. The album "Contemplating The Engine Room" came out at the same time my dad passed away. "Seems like ther is always more duty... Maybe that's the beauty"

What is the Best bass You have owned or Played?

It would be a toss up between the '99 Music Man Stingray I kick myself for ever getting rid of and my current Frankenstein Jazz bass.

    Concentric Dual Volume Wiring Diagram?

Ah, good point. Thanks for pointing that out! Now the question becomes this; what would 500K pots do to my sound opposed to 250K pots? Would the 500K pots decrease the volume of the signal overall? Sorry if this seems elementary, this is new territory for me. I've just recently installed a...

    Concentric Dual Volume Wiring Diagram?

Hi Guys, I plan to do the same mod, one volume/volume (Bridge/Neck) Concentric pot but with the addition of a Seymour Duncan STC-2C-BO pre-amp. Can any of you tell me if I should use a 250K/250K concentric pot for the volume, or 500K/500K? Going for that Dual '62 Jazz Bass look? Thanks in...

    Do you name your basses?

The orange ESP Telecaster bass is "Charlene". The Squire Vista series Musicmaster is "Blue". Haven't names the new Squire Vintage Modified Jaguar 5 hasn't been named yet. No reason, it just hasn't struck me yet. My main bass is "Frank", a black Frankenstein Jazz bass. I used to have a...

Bought a Squier Vintage Jaguar Modified today

Congrats! I picked up a B-stock sunburst VM 5 string version a few weeks ago for super cheap and absolutely love it. Plays much better than I could have imagined. It's heavier than hell, but the neck is really comfortable and doesn't dive much. The active bass boost is sort of cheesy and it...

    Reverend Mike Watt sig...

Plus, Watt is the reason I ditched guitar and picked up a bass in the first place. He sat with me at the Crocodile Cafe in Seattle before a gig and showed me how to play some of his fills from Relatin' Dudes to Jazz. It meant the world to me as a fan that my bass hero would take the time out...

    Reverend Mike Watt sig...

Man, this excites me a ton! I got lucky enough to interview Watt in '91 for the Flyin' the Flannel tour and he told me that Fender was Trying to convince him to put his name on a signature bass... a 5 stringer. Needless to say, Watt wasn't too keen about having his name on a mass produced bass...

New EBMM basses...here are the full photos.

I truly hope that the Caprice and new Cutlass basses turn out to be incredible instruments and change all of our nay-sayers minds. In my heart of hearts, however, I doubt they will. The range of perspectives on these basses is very interesting. Now that I’ve read it, these do seem like...
