I know this has been tried before, though not for several years, but I want to say how useful I think it is going to be. As a UK bassist, I've become somewhat parochial in my old age (not helped by a general anti-US vibe in the world beyond the USA these days - 'nuff said), so it's been a while...

This week: four fretted fours, one (Mayones) with a 17" scale, and a fiver. Not predicting next week's count!

I bought a Cort Action P/J in an auction for £35, then had it re-fretted at what turned out to be a cost of £200 by one of the best luthiers in the region. It's beautiful now and plays really well, so I don't regret it at all. But I could never get back for it what I spent. Not selling though...

That would be guilt by association.

TBH, I doubt it matters a great deal!

This. In my experience, the Gretsch has a really great neck. Combine it with flats and you have an incredibly playable bass. It's easier to play up and down the board.
