I recently heard a Nathan East interview where he told a story about auditioning for the Crusaders and getting turned down because they didn’t feel like he had the sound that they were looking for.

My favorite Chuck Rainey line. Amazing bass player and seemingly an all around great guy in general.

I don’t know for sure if Jamerson played on this but the bassline sounds very “Jamerson-esque”. This would be one of my favorite lines from him if it was indeed him playing. If not, I’d be interested to know who actually played. It’s credited as “Funk Brothers”.

I made an appreciation thread about Felder, he’s my favorite bassist and one whom I think is very underrated. He’s more known for being the saxophonist of the Jazz Crusaders but he did a lot of bass session work in the late 60s and 70s. Here’s an article about the “Can’t Get Enough” album that...

Henry Davis from LTD? Wow, I didn’t know he played on this album. But my guess is Felder or Rainey in that case.
