    Is there and difference in the Squier Precision Bass Special and a Fender P body?

    I'm interested in a PJ project and found a Squier Precision Bass Special for cheap. Other than the route for the J pickup, is there any difference between a typical P body?

    What makes a bass sound punchy?

    In addition to "all the above", a sealed cabinet, can add to this effect. As far as preamps, I found 1 years ago that gave me that kick. It was an old Trace Elliot, single space, Valve type. I believe it was modeled after an Alembic.

    I've seen this question posed several years ago, but have the opportunity between the two today. Both are used, but the Aggie comes with a flight case and costs $650, the GK $500. My deciding factor is tone. And Go!

    I'm essentially dividing my 4x12 into a pair of 2x12's for hauling and physical convenience. I am using a Carvin BX 1200.

    Eric, Beautiful work! Are those cabs deep enough for bass? I know a lot of guitarists use the bassman cabs as well.

    The Peavey cab was ported for 4x 12"s, and a tweeter, so I'm not certain it would be apples to apples?

    Great tone, No tweeter, horizontal alignment. I've had the BagEnd D-212 in the past and loved them. way too much dough today. I have a Peavey 4x12 TVX. Sounds great, but weighs 130 lbs. You are right, there are plenty of free plans out there, but not for a 2x12 cab. :(
