I love the Freddie King version, and that's Duck Dunn on the bass. This is how I play it: The bass line is basically this pattern of notes (not chords): 1 3 5 b7 b7 6 5 The recording is in the key of Db, so when you are on the 1 chord, those notes would be: 1 3 5 b7 b7 6...

I wondered about the 1-b7-4 as well, and I don't think I can pick up the difference. I think the basic chords are still the same - Db - B - Gb.

My guess would be Gb with a 5-4-1-5 progression. I can't say that I'm highly confident about that being correct, though.

I installed the Dimarzio Js in my GL last weekend. The old pickups seemed weak, and so far I like the Dimarzios. I had some grounding issues initially. The wiring diagram doesn't say anything about all these grounding wires coming from various places - the two copper plates under the pickups...

I second that. I didn't really like playing the Ashbory until I got the Thunderguts. Aquila came out with the Silver Rumblers for the U-Bass, I haven't heard whether they are okay for the Ashbory or if they offer any improvement.
