Nashville Bassists?

Oh, they are connected.... just not as digitally as many networks. My best friend and his wife are out there. I have played both in town and on the road with them some. He sometimes has a hard time finding a bass player to take out with him. But the network he uses is almost all phone tree. What I mean is, he'll call a bassist he knows, and if that guy can't do it he'll get a number from him for another player. Or he may call the drummer he is taking out on a small tour and get a few numbers of bass player that guy has worked with in the past. Almost none of it is internet. They either meet downtown face to face or get referred via phone calls.

Just saw this thread today. Wish I'd seen it sooner!
I am getting back into playing after 30 years and have very limited knowledge outside of the practice room.
I would like to meet some local experienced players to find out what’s going on today and Talk Bass :D

That's the purpose of the GTG. Face to Face..exchange phone numbers, talk equipment... BS ( Bass Stuff)... etc. Hopefully we can find a venue to meet.
A 4pm-6pm time slot has been mentioned. What say you all? Not written in stone...by any means.

I live in Inglewood, East Nashville...my main band for years is Th' Legendary ShackShakers. Been together about 12 years and have toured all throughout the US, Canada and Europe, over 200 shows a year...finally, we're taking a little hiatus to get over burnout! I'm on tour as we speak with a Nashville artist named Derek Hoke. Fun stuff :)

Hoping one day some of us Nashville players could hang, maybe do a GTG, and check out each others basses, amps, etc.

I love Derek Hoke's stuff. I bought a guitar from someone who played with Derek for a while and that's how I became aware of him. He's a very good songwriter.

Yeah, Derek's a great guy...I used to just play for him every now and then, but these days, it's turning into all the time, which is ok by me :) My main band (Legendary ShackShakers) are taking a year or so off from too many years of 200+ dates per year.

I will email a friend at a local club right now and try to figure out if that location would work!

Ok, I approached a local club, so fingers crossed! Like some other GTG's I've read about around the country, we may all have to pitch in a 'cover charge' type thing to make it worth the clubs while...everyone cool with that?

I actually just moved to Hendersonville from Bowling Green so I work just south of Nashville for my job at Schneider Electric. I just got back from The Stage about 10 minutes ago. Then went to tootsies last night. Tons of talent here. I'd love to meet some locals and get plugged in like I was in bowling green
