I obviously don't know, but there is a number of cities that have many musicians ( London, Berlin, New York etc.). But as I don't know , I'm quite ok with " it may or may not be so"

Not that anyone is going to perform a census, but I'd be willing to bet PER CAPITA we have the most by a fairly wide margin...NYC has tons of musicians, as does London, but those cities are also at least 10x larger

There is a Nashville Bass Hang on Facebook that has been successful. We've had a couple GTGs with great turnout. Peter Sternberg founded it.

And there are over 4,000 musicians registered on Nashville Gig Finder, which was started less than 6 months ago.
Hi, I’m in Mt. Juliet. I would love to get in on a Nashville GTG. Any thoughts on getting a room at Soundcheck, or SIR for an afternoon? We could bring out rigs and basses in like the other GTG’s.

I have had a chance to hang in LA, NYC, London, Toronto and other major cities worldwide for an extended period of time. I think that the average walking around bassist in Nashville is stronger because he has to be. This is by far one of the most competitive environments I've ever been in with a deep talent pool competing for a slim number of jobs. It's sort of like the old Frank Herbert Science Fiction novel Dune: The Fremen were much better fighters than the Imperial Stormtroopers because Dune was so inhospitable. When you have world-class players in wedding bands and playing for tips on Broadway it says a lot about the general talent pool here, which is pretty deep.
