I have a left handed Jazz bass with a Schaller bridge -- works just fine. I did not install it though so I don't know what (if any) mods were done during the installation process.

Oh man, just catching up on this thread... need to buy all the dead stock now I love Progressives! Seems like I remember GHS used to make a string just called ‘Alloy52’, what was its relation to Progressives?

Old thread -- but just bought one these amps. The sound is clear through the main speaker but the headphone out is very noisy. Just wanted to see if anyone else experienced this and it looks like they have.

Just curious, why did you take the E string through the bridge and not through the body? The tapered E string works perfect for that. Yeah, I think GHS has stopped manufacturing Boomer52s, and juststrings might be selling through old stock...

I love Progressives, though the tapered E string works best on string-through-body style bridges. The taper can affect intonation on no string through body bridges. GHS Boomer52's are almost exactly the same, cheaper, and have no tapered E (though the core is different.) You can find them on...

I've been running your set with Drop C for a few months now. But instead of a .115, I use a .110 I use a 55-110 D'addario set, you might look into it, it's cheaper than 25$ a set. I haven't noticed any volume differences on account of the string, just the stringray that I have them on.

I have D'addario 55-110 on my StingRay right now. I had to set it up again after putting on the heavier gauge but have no problems with it.

The EPS 170-6 are fully steel strings, whereas the others are a steel core with a nickel wrap. The steels will be a lot brighter sounding than the nickel.

I agree. You need to the brightness of SS rounds. Lower gauge normally makes it easier as well.
