Take a look at the info online about the '51-'54 single coil electronics. It was originally designed to do that. That little brown resistor on the tone pot can be removed and the volume and tone will react like your other basses.

Have you tried the Seymour Duncan '51 P-bass Stack pickup? It's very popular with great reviews. I've used them for several years in my '54 style Precision basses and love that pickup. (I hate the hum of regular single coils.)

I've used this exact model replacement nut on my Fender '62 AVRI neck which is 1.75" nut width with a 7.25" radius and it was a perfect fit. I looked up a 2009 Fender Road Worn Precision bass and it specs as a 1.75" nut width with a 7.25" fretboard radius.

I've had nothing but awesomeness from Fender customer service.. Phenomenal positive attitude, willing to help, listen, and take care of a few issues I had over the years. The most recent experiences the past few years have been the best.

Steam, then roll the edges, and use stable stands or store it in a case/bag between sets. Sorry this happened...but at least they are on the bass side.
