It is an eq and the character knob is just a pre-scoop thing you can bring up. I use it second to last on board that ends in a b15 style pre. Great sound, but not a whole lot of detail when you want a delay or whatnot. Step on the DG and now all the detail is back and my sound is “modern”.

I have an OG Agro and it is indeed a bass drive. Has not made it on a board yet, but not a definite sell either. Made the “headed to the studio” collection. Wouldn’t pay what Aguilar/Korg thinks they are worth, but it is worth a hundred dollar bill to try and flip at worst.

The EHX bass nano clone is a great all around chorus for bass. I also really dig the tc june-60 for ease of use and character. I have two of the EHX because I have more than 1 board….. just sayin.

Have you tried sweeping the tone knob? Also, as much fun as it is to crank a green russian, the sweet spot on the sustain knob is really at 4 o’clock and lower. Especially on bass. If you have just stomped on the tone that sounded great solo and decided that it was a turd in the mix. Try the...

Late to the party, but the odr mini is pretty great on bass. For more aggressive dirt the aguilar storm king is a great mini. Treads this weird line between big muffy and darkglassy and the full spectrum in between.
